  • Patent number: 6423293
Abstract: The invention is a mixed oxide oxygen storage material useful as a catalyst or catalyst washcoat. The mixed oxide is praseodymium oxide loaded onto a support of either cerium oxide or cerium-zirconium oxide. The praseodymium oxide is loaded on the support so that the resultant mixed oxide contains praseodymium and cerium in a molar ratio of 1:4 to 4:1. This mixed oxide may be loaded with a catalyst like palladium for use in automotive exhaust gas systems.

  • Patent number: 6399537
Abstract: A method of milling a cerium-rich material for oxygen storage and oxygen release in an exhaust gas catalyst. The present invention provides a method of preparing a cerium-rich material that has enhanced oxygen storing and releasing properties for exhaust gas systems. The invention includes providing the cerium-rich material having oxides of about 60 wt. % ceria and oxides of about 40 wt. % lanthana and neodymia, and using high energy vibratory mechanical milling at a predetermined oscillation frequency and amplitude for a predetermined duration to preprepare the cerium-rich material until the cerium-rich material is at a substantially uniform molecular mixture of ceria, lanthana, and neodymia, by which the cerium-rich material's property of storing and releasing oxygen are enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20020032123
Abstract: The present invention involves an exhaust gas catalyst and method of manufacturing same. The invention provides for a cost-effective material which lowers the cold-start emissions from the exhaust of vehicles. The invention is a passive system which accelerates the light-off temperature of catalyst in a cost-effective fashion. The invention includes a method of manufacturing an exhaust gas catalyst capable of lowering cold-start emissions including the steps of providing an oxide mixture having praseodymium and cerium, doping about 0-10% weight zirconium and about 0-10% weight yttrium to the oxide mixture, adding about 0-2% weight metal including palladium, platinum, or rhodium to the oxide mixture, mixing gamma aluminum to the oxide mixture for washcoating and washcoating the oxide mixture onto a monolithic substrate.

  • Patent number: 6139814
Abstract: The invention is a method for producing a metal oxide product by steps including absorbing a liquid solution of metal oxide precursors onto crystalline or microcrystalline, porous structured organic material capable of being combusted at elevated temperatures; heating the organic material containing the absorbed solution for a time and at a temperature sufficient to vaporize the liquid, convert the metal oxide precursors to metal oxides, and combust the organic material. The metal oxide products have been found to retain a high specific surface area (porous structure) even when subjected to elevated temperatures, which makes them ideally suited for use as catalyst materials.

  • Patent number: 5729931
Abstract: A mesh (10) and flashing (11) for use with a roof guttering to prevent leaves and debris from entering the guttering. The mesh is adapted to overlie the guttering and a part of a corrugated roof. The flashing fits flush against the roof and includes a plurality of tongue extensions (16). Each of the tongue extensions fits between a corrugation of the roof.
