  • Patent number: 8194551
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for network controlled mobile IP flow movement. An infrastructure node, such as a home agent, signals a mapping between care-of-addresses (CoAs) and flows to be transmitted from a mobile device in uplink communications. The CoA associated with each flow is determined from network, device, and/or flow information. A mobile node or mobile gateway receives the mapping and updates its local policy information. When a selected flow is to be transmitted in an uplink transmission, the local policy information is used to determine the CoA associated with the selected flow. The CoA is then used to determine an access network (or access path) on which the uplink transmission of the selected flow is to occur.

  • Publication number: 20110286597
Abstract: A method apparatus, processor, and computer program product for wireless communication, including employing a communication interface to obtain a binding update message from a mobile node (MN). A data process is employed to analyze the binding update message for a network address of a corresponding node (CN). A communication interface is employed to initiate a long-life secure association between the CN and a network agent serving the MN if the binding update message contains the network address of the CN, wherein the long-life secure association enables the MN and CN to participate in a route optimized (RO) mobile communication session. The method may include employing a data processor to generate a binding cache entry for the network entity or a network component serving the network entity, wherein the binding cache entry includes a security key that facilitates a route optimized communication session with the network entity or the network component.

  • Patent number: 7907970
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to providing appropriate QoS treatment to one or more traffic flows associated with a terminal, wherein the QoS treatment is defined within a profile assigned to the terminal and implemented when the terminal requests access to a network. An access mode can receive identifying indicia associated with the terminal and relays such indicia to an authentication and authorization server (AAS). The AAS can thereafter provide the access node with a profile that defines QoS treatment to associate with one or more traffic flows related to the terminal.

  • Publication number: 20110039592
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating, communicating, and/or verifying ownership of expressions are described. Various embodiments are well suited for use in a wireless peer to peer communications systems in which expressions are communicated, e.g., broadcast, in discovery intervals. A first communications device generates an expression from a first public key and an additional input, said first public key corresponding to a private key known to said first communications device. The first device transmits the generated expression on a communications channel used for discovery. A second communications device receives the transmitted expression from the first device. The second device transmits a request signal to the first device associated with the expression; and receives from the first device a signed communication signed using a private key known to said first communications device.

  • Publication number: 20100318795
Abstract: Aspects describe enabling two peers that have already paired together under some circumstances to re-identify themselves under different circumstances so that the peers can bypass performing another pairing only to discover that they are already paired. A Bloom filter is constructed from an available pool of locally selected identifiers and is sent to a peer node in a first message. Upon receiving the message with the Bloom filter, peer node checks all its known identifiers. If peer node finds that one of its identifiers is a member of the Bloom filter, peer node sends a reply in order to achieve a mutual identification.

  • Publication number: 20100085898
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods for detecting a routing loop between at least two home agents utilizing the mobile internet protocol (MIPv6) standard. In a first method, the home agent sends a test message to the last care of address associated with a mobile node and receives a reply if there is no loop. In a second method, the home agent parses a packet and checks if the address of any of the inner headers matches the address of the home agent to find a loop between home agents.

  • Publication number: 20090305701
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate multiple registrations and flow based mobility in a wireless communication network. A flow routing component can be included in a mobile device, home agent/p-gateway, or a policy and charging rules function server that determines the manner in which to route one or more IP flows through a set of network access entry points. The flow routing component can determine the routing based on a set of policies and/or network data, such as quality of service requirements, bandwidth requirements, network congestion, currently active IP flows, and so forth.

  • Publication number: 20090303932
Abstract: A mobile node receives access network-specific signaling that is related to an Internet Protocol (IP) flow. The mobile node decides which of multiple access networks to use to send the IP flow based on the access network-specific signaling. The access network-specific signaling may be received from an access network, and the mobile node may interpret the access network-specific signaling as a command to send the IP flow over that access network. The mobile node may update a forwarding policy at the mobile node to indicate that the IP flow should be sent over that access network.

  • Publication number: 20090300207
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate tunneling within wireless communication systems. Flow identification information is dynamically generated for data flows within a communication system. This flow identification information assists in determining appropriate flow specific policies to be applied with respective data flows. The flow identification information along with the flow specific policies can be communicated to an access mechanism which transmits the data flows in accordance with the flow specific policies. Different aspects relate to using source addresses in combination with the flow identification information for identifying different IP flows originating at a plurality of sources. The flow identification information also facilitates in verifying if different flows are transmitted in accordance with appropriate rules. The generated data flows are transmitted with respective flow identification information in order to facilitate the verification process.
