The movable platform is disposed within the casket container. The movable platform including slots extending through the platform and aligned horizontally with the plurality of rollers, the movable platform having a raised position and a lowered position, wherein at least a portion of a first number of the plurality of rollers extend through the slots and stand proud the movable platform in the lowered position, and a portion of fewer than the first number of the plurality of rulers stand proud the movable platform in the raised position.

Abstract: A casket includes a lid and a container. The container is configured to receive the lid in a first configuration for shipping, and in a second configuration for funereal purposes. In general, the lid in the first configuration is detached and inverted with respect to the second configuration, particularly when the lid is closed in the second configuration.

Abstract: A retractable handle arrangement for a casket includes an elongate handle member, a rigid rod, and a stopper member. The elongate handle member has a length extending parallel to a side panel of the casket, and has a through-hole extending transverse to the length. The rigid rod extends through the through-hole of the handle member. The rigid rod has a first end and a second end, the first end having a head. The head has a diameter exceeding a diameter of at least a part of the through-hole. The rigid rod extends through a side panel opening such that the second end is disposed within an interior of the casket. The stopper member is fixedly supported on the rigid rod within the interior of the casket. The stopper member has a diameter that exceeds a diameter of at least a portion of the side panel opening.

In a second configuration, the upper section extends in a direction other than vertically upward from the lower section. The mechanically strengthening insert is disposed at least in part adjacent the lower section of at least one side panel. The end panels are formed intrinsically with the bottom panel.

Abstract: A method of molding a flange uses a first tool element and a second opposing tool element. The first tool element defines a negative of at least a portion of a first side of a flange, and the second tool element defines a negative of at least a portion of the second side of the flange. The method includes providing a set of blocks for insertion into a plurality of recesses in the second tool element, the set of blocks insertable in a plurality of configurations, each configuration defining a negative of a set of retention features on the second side of the flange. The plurality of configurations define differing configurations of retention features on the second side. The method also includes inserting at least some blocks into the second tool element to form a selected one of the plurality of configurations, and performing injection molding using the first tool element and the second tool element.

Abstract: A braking mechanism for a reel stand has been developed. The braking mechanism is affixed to a reel support member. The reel support member is configured to rotatably support at least a part of a reel. The braking mechanism includes a brake lever connected to the reel support member at a pivot point, and a braking member connected to the brake lever. The pivot point is offset from an axis of rotation of a reel supported by the reel support member. The braking member is configured to be positionable against the reel supported by the reel support member with an adjustable braking force.

Abstract: A flange for a reel for supporting a wound flexible medium includes a plate member and a set of support elements. The reel includes an elongate core defining a longitudinal core axis. The plate member engages the core and extends radially from the core toward an outer edge and has an axially inclined media engaging surface. The set of support elements have a height extending from the plate member in the axial direction, and a length extending radially, at least a first support element extending radially from proximate the core to proximate the outer edge. The axial distance between the plate member and a top of the first support element proximate the outer edge is less than an axial distance between the plate member and the top of the first support element proximate the core.

Abstract: A casket assembly includes a casket body, lid, and insert. The body may be arranged in at least two configurations, one of which is a low profile arrangement that allows for a reduced shipping volume. The insert is made from a leak resistant material, and fits inside the casket body. The profile of the shipping configuration is not altered when the insert is in place. The lid fits both configurations of the casket body. Handholds on the casket are spaced off-center to better distribute the weight of the contents.

The casket includes a removable end piece which is one embodiment is located within grooves formed in the side panels of the casket. The grooves widen near the upper portion of the side panels and are partially covered by a top panel. The rental casket system may further include a tray assembly that may be used as part of a cremation casket. The tray has short side walls and an inner assembly that prevents contact with a deceased when handholds in the tray assembly are used to move the tray assembly. The tray assembly includes side walls that are movably attached to end walls. Lids are provided with the tray so that the tray may also be used as an identification tray.
