  • Patent number: 4264332
Abstract: A process for the preparation of pure aluminum chloride hexa hydrate is disclosed, in which the crystallisate mixture from the mother solution (centrifugate) and starting solution (wash solution) is treated first to the coldest of a number of crystallization steps, pumped to the hottest step by retrograde feeding, and in which only from the hottest step is a portion of the mother solution now rich in impurities removed.

  • Patent number: 4248339
Abstract: A gantry scraper for the clearing of dumps which can function in closed buildings and can clear substantially the entire area under the scraper. A vertically swingable scraping jib is provided in combination with a tensioned clearing rope or the like which extends upwardly and at an angle to the adjacent beam of the scraper jib, which clearing rope contacts bulk material beyond the end of the jib and knocks the material down to where it is accessible by the jib.

  • Patent number: 4224287
Abstract: In the process for the preparation of pure aluminum oxide by the steps of hydrochloric acid decomposition of mechanically or thermally activated clay or alumina containing minerals, separating the insoluble residue, removing the iron from the solution, crystallizing the aluminum chloride in the iron-free solution, thermally decomposing the crystallizate to aluminum oxide and recovering the hydrochloric acid from the decomposition gases, the improvement comprising effecting the process by the steps of mechanically pretreating the clay, drying the pretreated clay, thermally or mechanically activating the clay, subjecting the activated clay to circulating leaching, separating the leached material into an SiO.sub.2 containing residue and an AlCl.sub.3 solution, extracting the AlCl.sub.3 solution to an evaporating crystallization and thermally decomposing the crystals to produce .alpha.-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.

  • Patent number: 4121724
Abstract: Apparatus for progressively removing bulk material from a dump or stockpile having a generally trapezoidal cross-section includes a gantry having a bridging girder extending between a pair of upright end supports. At least one of the supports is movable along a track extending alongside or around the base of the dump or pile. The gantry supports scraper means for scraping material from the top of the pile, and the scraper means together with the girder can be jointly raised or lowered between the upright end supports. Each upright end support includes guide means which laterally retain the girder perpendicular to its longitudinal axis while permitting free vertical movement of the girder.

  • Patent number: 4026423
Abstract: An improved bulk extracting apparatus comprises a pivoted chain scraper conveyor which in the horizontal position acts to remove material from the transverse face of a dump. Various clearing means are provided to loosen material from the face of the dump which is then carried by gravity to feed the scraper conveyor. Alternatively, the scraper conveyor may be pivoted upwardly to clear the dump so that the apparatus may be easily moved either to a different dump or to a different position on the same dump. The scraper conveyor may also be partially lowered to act to remove material from a lateral side of the dump. Finally, stacking means may be additionally provided for adding material onto the dump such as for mixing purposes.
