Abstract: An electrophotographic recording medium which consists essentially of an electrically conductive base and a photosemiconductive double layer which comprises a first layer containing charge carrier-producing dyes, and a second layer containing one or more compounds which are charge carrier-transporting when exposed to light, wherein the charge carrier-producing dyes are those of the formula I ##STR1## or of the formula II ##STR2## where R.sup.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkyl or alkylaryl, and Z may be a a fused aromatic system, and the degree to which the aromatic skeleton is halogen-substituted is from 45 to 75% of the maximum possible, and a process for the production of this electrophotographic recording medium.

Abstract: An electrophotographic recording medium which consists essentially of an electrically conductive base and a photosemiconductive double layer which comprises a first layer containing charge carrier-producing dyes, and a second layer containing one or more compounds which are charge carrier-transporting when exposed to light, wherein perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid N,N'-bis-(2',6'-dichlorophenyl)-diimide is employed as the charge carrier-producing dye, and the production of this recording medium.

Abstract: A multi-layer element contains a photosensitive layer composed of a mixture of an elastomeric polymer as a binder, a photopolymerizable monomer and a photopolymerization initiator, the photosensitive layer being bonded to a polyester base via an adhesive layer. The adhesive layer is composed of a reaction product, which is insoluble in the process solvents, of a hardenable cellulose ether and a polyisocyanate. The multi-layer element is particularly suitable for the production of printing plates and relief plates, and can be produced by applying a layer of an adhesive, which contains the hardenable cellulose ether and the polyisocyanate, to the polyester base, baking the adhesive to form the insoluble adhesive layer, and applying the photosensitive layer.

Abstract: An electrode for an electrochemical metal removing process, with the electrode consisting of a metal sheet extending at right angles to a sinking direction of the electrode. To enable the production of end face contours the metal sheet is provided with perforations which extend laterally beyond an edge of the workpiece being processed. A resiliently mounted plate of an insulating material may be provided for covering a rear side of the perforations.

Abstract: A photosensitive multi-layer material comprising a base and a photosensitive layer which has a polyamide binder and is soluble or dispersible in an alcoholic solvent contains two layers between the base and the photosensitive layer, namely (a) an adhesion-promoting layer, adjacent to the base, which is derived from a polyurethane binder, prepared by reacting a hydroxyl-containing epoxy resin and a polyisocyanate, and a pigment combination in which a white zinc sulfide pigment is the essential constituent, and (b) an adhesive layer, adjacent to the photosensitive layer, which consists of a baked mixture of an alcohol-soluble copolyamide and a melamine-formaldehyde resin.

Abstract: A photopolymerizable recording composition which comprises a mixture, containing a photoinitiator, of (a) a photopolymerizable olefinically unsaturated monomer and (b) an organic polymeric binder, wherein the photoinitiator is an acylphosphine oxide compound of the formula R.sup.1 R.sup.2 PO--CO--R.sup.3, where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are certain organic radicals and R.sup.3 is tert.-alkyl or a cyclic radical with two substituents in the ortho-position to the carbonyl group. The recording compositions have a high reactivity when irradiated with UV light and are used in particular for the preparation of printing plates, relief plates and photo-resists.

Abstract: A laminate suitable for the production of printing plates and relief plates, and possessing a photosensitive layer, which is soluble in water or in an aqueous solution, and contains a hydrophilic polymeric binder, applied to a base, contains, between the base and the photosensitive layer, an intermediate layer which consists of a mixture of a polymeric binder compatible with the polymeric binder of the photosensitive layer, and a diacrylate or dimethacrylate monomer which contains urethane groups and is obtained by reacting a hydroxyalkyl acrylate or hydroxyalkyl methacrylate with a diisocyanate. After application to the base, the intermediate layer is cured at 110.degree.-220.degree. C. before the photosensitive layer is applied.

Abstract: A laminate suitable for the production of printing plates and relief plates, and possessing a photosensitive layer, which is soluble in water or in an aqueous solution, and contains a hydrophilic polymeric binder, applied to a base, contains, between the base and the photosensitive layer, an intermediate layer which consists of a mixture of a polymeric binder which is compatible with the polymeric binder of the photosensitive layer and contains at least 30% by weight of a reaction product of a polyvinyl alcohol with acrylic anhydride and/or methacrylic anhydride, with at least one monomer which is compatible therewith and selected from the group consisting of the hydroxyalkyl acrylates and methacrylates and the diacrylates and dimethacrylates containing urethane groups. After application to the base, the intermediate layer is cured at 110.degree.-220.degree. C. before the photosensitive layer is applied.

Abstract: A device for counterbalancing a swivelable body part on a motor vehicle, especially a trunk lid on an automobile, said device including a hinge for the swivelable body part and a torsion bar, the torsion bar being bent to form a crank in the vicinity of a movable hinge part. An intermediate lever is articulated on the movable hinge part and engages the crank, the crank including a crank pin between two legs, the legs being connected by arcuate segments both with the crank pin and with the torsion bar. The legs are made S-shaped so as to minimize waste, provide ease of manufacture and small installation space requirements for the crank.

Abstract: A photopolymerizable recording composition which comprises a mixture, containing a photoinitiator, of (a) a photopolymerizable olefinically unsaturated monomer and (b) an organic polymeric binder, wherein the photoinitiator is an acylphosphine oxide compound of the formula R.sup.1 R.sup.2 PO-CO-R.sup.3, where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are certain organic radicals and R.sup.3 is tert.-alkyl or a cyclic radical with two substituents in the ortho-position to the carbonyl group. The recording compositions have a high reactivity when irradiated with UV light and are used in particular for the preparation of printing plates, relief plates and photoresists.

Abstract: Photopolymerizable compositions for the production of printing plates and relief plates, consisting essentially of a photoinitiator-containing mixture of olefinically unsaturated photopolymerizable compounds with polymeric binders, contain up to 1% by weight of a compound having the structural element of anthrone, e.g. bianthrone and 9,9'-bianthryl, which results in an improved relief image in the production of relief plates.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for the production of exposed printing plates consisting of a resin layer and a support, said resin layer being prepared from a fluid photopolymerizable material which is introduced into a mold having at least one transparent wall which is covered with an image-bearing transparency, and being exposed through said image-bearing transparency, which causes photopolymerization of the exposed areas of the resin layer and bonds these areas to the support which is provided with an adhesive layer.

Abstract: Fluid photo-crosslinkable composition consisting essentially of a photo-initiator and a mixture ofA. a polyurethane obtained by reacting a hydroxyl-containing saturated aliphatic polyester with a polyisocyanate and a monoacrylate or monomethacrylate of a diol, andB. an N-vinyl lactam optionally in admixture with other monomers.These compositions are suitable for the production of high-quality relief printing plates and have a short processing time.
