  • Patent number: 5227577
Abstract: A device for firing ammunition includes a combustion chamber accommodating several propellant charge members which latter contain a propellant charge and an ignition system for igniting the propellant charge. A fixedly disposed primary coil which receives an ignition signal is provided at the combustion chamber while a secondary coil is arranged in each propellant charge member, this secondary coil being connected to a resistor initiating the ignition system. The magnetic field, changing with time, which is produced by the primary coil penetrates the combustion chamber and induces a current in the secondary coils of each propellant charge member at the same time so that the ignition systems of all propellant charge members are simultaneously activated and ignite all propellant charges at once. On account of the simultaneous ignition of the propellant charge members, rapid firing sequences can be attained.

  • Patent number: 4944224
Abstract: An igniting medium incorporating a support member, the latter of which is passed through by electrical leads extending towards an ignition bridge. The support member is constructed as a shunt-capacitance which is connected to the electrical lead lines for the ignition bridge.

  • Patent number: 4690056
Abstract: An electric detonator device including an insulating carrier member carrying an ignition bridge and first and second electrodes connected to the ignition bridge. At least one of the electrodes is provided in the form of a layered conductor path configured to provide a high-frequency filter so as to prevent high-frequency interference signals from passing to the ignition bridge and causing misfiring.

  • Patent number: 4653211
Abstract: A breech mechanism for a gun is equipped with an inductive ignition energy transmission system for ammunition with primer means comprising a secondary winding, a fixed housing, and a movable breech with at least one primary winding with core. The primary winding is arranged in the fixed housing. Magnetically conductive transmission elements are arranged in the movable breech in such a way that they couple magnetically, as a magnetic yoke, the primary winding to the secondary winding within the primary means.

  • Patent number: 4651254
Abstract: A secondary coil is provided for use in inductive igniters for the igniting of propellant charge powder. In these igniters, two coil systems cooperate with each other in accordance with the transformer system, wherein the secondary coil is to be as small as possible and is to form a compact unit with the igniter. This is accomplished by arranging the windings of the secondary coil in the form of flat sandwich coils on a support material in an insulated fashion so that upon folding of the support material, the individual flat coils are placed in mutual opposition so that they form a cylinder coil.

  • Patent number: 4587903
Abstract: An ignition system for projectiles, such as shells, bombs, or rockets is disclosed. The system has a pressure chamber defined by a double-diaphragm switch and a cap of a deformable material. The diaphragm of the double-diaphragm switch, which defines one wall of the pressure chamber, contains one or several perforations, the number and diameter of which depend on the spacing of the diaphragms, the areas thereof and the size of the pressure chamber. The double-diaphragm switch is connected to an electric ignition unit. An electrical circuit is closed only if a projectile housing a percussion fuse and the ignition system impacts on the ground or target after its flight. Any unintended ignition during firing or due to brief impact stress cannot occur.

  • Patent number: 4445434
Abstract: An arrangement for the contactless transmission of electrical energy to a missile during the firing thereof from a firing device including a transformer-like coil system having a primary coil system connected to the firing device and a secondary coil system connected to the missile. The primary coil system is supplied with electric energy and the secondary coil system is responsive to the electric energy developed in the primary coil system for developing electrical energy therein. A partition is arranged between the primary coil system and the secondary coil system and is formed of a nonmagnetic material capable of withstanding thermal and mechanical stresses of repeated firings by the firing device. The partition is fixedly connected with the firing device and disposed for sealing the primary coil system with respect to the missile at least during the firing of the missile from the firing device.
