  • Patent number: 6115659
Abstract: The invention describes a process for triggering a passive safety device for vehicle occupants inside a vehicle, in particular airbags, pretensioning systems, buckle switches, and roll-over bars, where--by means of electric sensors, an evaluation circuit evaluating the acceleration signals of these sensors, and a triggering agent--an activation of these triggering agents is effected if the acceleration signals indicate a vehicle condition which may be potentially hazardaous for the vehicle occupants. According to the invention, the sensor signals will first be quantified, followed by detection of those signals that indicate simultaneously an impact direction against the direction of vehicle travel. At the same time that such sensor signals are detected, a linearly increasing crash signal as well as a trigger threshold increasing with the clock pulse are generated. If the crash signal reaches this dynamic trigger threshold, the trigger agents will be activated.

  • Patent number: 6072246
Abstract: A process used to trigger a passive occupant protection system for motor vehicles where at least one electric ignition agent for a safety device protecting one person in the event of a hazardous impact, in particular an airbag or a belt tensioner, is provided with ignition energy by a trigger current which--in the event of a functional failure occurring in the on-board electric system of the motor vehicle--is generated as the discharge current of an autarchic capacitor. According to the invention, this autarchic capacitor simultaneously provides the trigger currents for multiple ignition agents--in particular squibs used for airbags--, with the respective trigger current of each ignition agent being pulse-width modulated such that the ignition energy required for the respective ignition agent is preset by the pulse-to-pause ratio of the trigger current.

  • Patent number: 5963044
Abstract: A method for acquiring measured values in electronic analog circuits having at least one measurement point, in particular safety-relevant circuits for passenger protection systems in motor vehicles. The electrical potentials generated at the measurement points are each compared as measured quantities with a ramp voltage that rises in steps, where the number of steps required to reach the voltage value of the measured quantity at the respective measurement point is provided as a unit of measurement that is proportional to the measured quantity. This allows the comparison of all measured quantities with the ramp voltage to be performed simultaneously, the ramp voltage being selected to cover the entire range of measurement.

  • Patent number: 5892435
Abstract: A process for triggering a passive safety device for vehicle occupants inside a vehicle, in particular airbags, pretensioning systems, buckle switches, and roll-over bars, where--by means of electric sensors, an evaluation circuit evaluating the acceleration signals of these sensors, and triggering agents--the safety devices are triggered if the acceleration signals indicate a vehicle condition which may be potentially hazardous for the vehicle occupants. According to the invention, sensor signal characteristics will be generated from quantified sensor signals by means of an evaluation function; these sensor signal characteristics will then be differentiated and fed into an amount calculation function. The up-integrated values of these amounts will then be compared to a trigger threshold so that safety devices can be triggered, if necessary.

  • Patent number: 5818851
Abstract: A method is described for detecting the time messages in the faulty signal of a time-signal transmitter comprising the steps below. Probabilities are assigned to the received information/bits as they are received and whose sign specifies the value of the bit and whose numerical value indicates the certainty of reception. Except for the bits designating the minute information, the probabilities of successive time messages are totaled with time correctness in a one-dimensional memory field. From the totaled probabilities, a reduced time message is reconstructed that initially contains no information on the minutes. If the reconstructed time message does not change over two successive time intervals, and if preset minimum values for the number of probabilities are exceeded for all bits, then the reduced time message is recognized as being correct. The minutes are determined separately and added to the time message recognized as being correct.

  • Patent number: 5805647
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting the beginning of time messages in the signal received from a time-signal transmitter. The signal of the time-signal transmitter consists of a series of blanking intervals on a carrier signal in the seconds clock cycle in which blanking intervals of different length cause different information units to be transmitted (ZERO pulse, ONE pulse, frame pulse). A time message, comprising the information units transmitted over a period of one minute, contains the actual time information in coded form. The time message has areas/sectors with defined, constant information units and areas/sectors with variable contents that code the time information. A reference message is stored in a first area of memory that contains the defined, constant information units that are located in fixed areas/sectors. A number of successive information units corresponding to the length of a time message are stored in a second area of memory.

  • Patent number: 5745656
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for decoding transmitted information units by comparing a signal section containing an information unit with a number of reference functions. A reference function is assigned to every possible information unit and that type of information unit is considered to be recognized for which the smallest deviation is established between assigned reference function and signal section. In the method according to the invention, the reference functions are modified in accordance with the signal curve in the respective actual signal section. The modifications are appropriately calculated using a fuzzy controller.

  • Patent number: 5727022
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for associating an information unit from a limited set of various/different information units with a signal sector of given length of a data signal transmitted in a signal transmission system and including superimposed disturbances. The transmission of data takes place by a time-succession of the information units in the data signal. The various information units are coded in each case by a typical curve of the data signal in the corresponding signal sector. On the receiver side of the signal transmission system, different partial areas are determined for each signal sector under the curve of the received data signal. The various partial areas are assigned to rating numbers in accordance with their size. Based on the rating numbers, the decision is made as to which information unit has been transmitted in the relevant signal sector.

  • Patent number: 5551594
Abstract: A box-shaped container of plastics material, particularly a storage and transport container includes a bottom with a flat upper side and a bottom side which is stabilized by stiffening ribs. Flat webs extending in a plane parallel to the plane of the bottom extend along the rim of the bottom. The flat webs form in the manner of a frame a center field of the bottom. The stiffening ribs in the center field intersect each other in the manner of a grid. The flat webs form support surfaces of the container and rest spaced apart from the plane of the bottom on stiffening ribs arranged transversely of the rim of the bottom. Pocket-shaped free spaces are formed between the bottom side of the container bottom, the upper sides of the flat webs and the transversely extending stiffening ribs, wherein the free spaces are completely open to the side of the rim of the bottom.
