    Abstract: An image processing device, an image processing method, and a flat panel display are disclosed. According to some aspects, the image processing device may include: an image determining unit for determining a kind of an input image as one of a moving picture, a photograph image, and a user interface image. A legibility improving unit may be configured to generate a legibility improved image by extracting specific pixels from input image according to the kind of the input image and by modifying gray scale values of the extracted specific pixels. According to some aspects, an illuminance sensor for sensing external illuminance, and a brightness improving unit for correcting a gamma curve according to the illuminance sensor is provided. Brightness may be controlled to increase outdoor visibility of an image according to the external illuminance.

Input data corresponding to a first sampling window with respect to the second sub-pixel of the first pixel among the input data applied to the stripe pattern is used to render a second data signal supplied to the second sub-pixel through filtering sampled input data for a color of the second sub-pixel. The first data signal to be supplied to the first sub-pixel is rendered through filtering of the input data of a second window unit for a color of the first sub-pixel with respect to the first sub-pixel of the first pixel among the sampled input data.

    Abstract: A display apparatus having improved display quality is disclosed. According to one aspect, the display apparatus includes a display panel including first to Mth data lines extending in a first direction, where M is an integer greater than 2, first to Nth scan lines extending in a second direction, where N is an integer greater than 2, and a plurality of pixel regions defined by one or more of the data lines and one or more of the scan lines. An image data processor is configured to process input image signals and output corrected input image signals, and a data driver is configured to receive the corrected input image signals and supply the same to the first to Mth data lines. The plurality of pixel regions include first to Mth pixel arrays extending in parallel, and the image data signal processor is configured to output the corrected input image signals to adjust a gray value applied to at least one of the first pixel array and the Mth pixel array.

    Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) display is disclosed. One aspect includes: a display unit including a plurality of pixels and a slit barrier selectively shielding light irradiated from the display unit. The display unit additionally includes a controller controlling the turn-on and turn-off of the slit barrier and generating a first back light compensation signal compensating the reduction of the luminance of the display unit when the slit barrier is turned off and a second back light compensation signal compensating the reduction of the luminance of the display when the slit barrier is turned on to compensate the luminance reduction by the slit barrier. According to at least one aspect of the 3D display using a slit barrier scheme, it is possible to minimize the deterioration of luminance by a slit barrier.
