  • Publication number: 20100174184
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for detecting clinically-relevant features of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of a subject are disclosed. The apparatus includes a capsule to be swallowed by a subject and passing through the GI tract of the subject, a capsule housing, a radiation source emitting radiation, a rotatable collimator configured to rotate with respect to the housing and to collimate the radiation emitted by the radiation source, and a radiation detector configured to detect particles, such as photons, gamma radiation, beta radiation and electrons photons generated responsive to the emitted radiation. The apparatus also includes a control unit configured to analyze data regarding the photons. Movement of the capsule in the GI tract can be detected from a comparison between at least two images acquired with the apparatus. The radiation source, radiation detector and control unit may advantageously be integrated inside a single housing.

  • Patent number: 7655781
Abstract: The present invention provides human glycoprotein hormone (hGPH) ?-chain splice variants, including isolated nucleic acids encoding these variants and the encoded amino acid sequences, as well as antibodies, antisense oligonucleotides, expression vectors and host cells comprising these sequences. The present invention further discloses the use of these sequences in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of symptoms, diseases and disorders related to glycoprotein hormones.

  • Publication number: 20090208477
Abstract: A device, system and method for producing glycosylated proteins in plant culture, particularly proteins having a high mannose glycosylation, while targeting such proteins with an ER signal and/or by-passing the Golgi. The invention further relates to vectors and methods for expression and production of enzymatically active high mannose lysosomal enzymes using transgenic plant root, particularly carrot cells. More particularly, the invention relates to host cells, particularly transgenic suspended carrot cells, vectors and methods for high yield expression and production of biologically active high mannose Glucocerebrosidase (GCD). The invention further provides for compositions and methods for the treatment of lysosomal storage diseases.

  • Publication number: 20090082548
Abstract: A system and method for production of antibodies in plant cell culture, which results in highly functional antibodies, produced with a high level of expression efficiency. The present invention also encompasses host cells, vectors and methods for mass production of full size assembled immunoglobulins.
