  • Publication number: 20230155728
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for mapping coding indices associated with a rateless coding scheme to respective sets of communication resources over which a transmitting device may perform transmissions of portions of a message corresponding to each of the coding indices. In some aspects, for example, different coding indices may correspond to different cumulative portions of the message and the transmitting device may transmit a first cumulative portion of the message corresponding to a first coding index over a first set of communication resources to which the first coding index is mapped. The transmitting device may signal an indication of such a resource mapping scheme to a receiving device and the receiving device may attempt to decode transmissions of one or more cumulative portions of the message using the indicated resource mapping scheme.

  • Publication number: 20230155719
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for signaling mechanisms associated with transmission puncturing schemes for rateless coding. In some aspects, a transmitting device may encode a message using a rateless code associated with a cumulative encoding of various portions of the message and may perform transmission puncturing to adapt a bit rate of related signal transmissions. The transmitting device may signal an indication of the transmission puncturing scheme, and potentially one or more modifications to the transmission puncturing scheme, to a receiving device via control signaling. The transmitting device may modify the transmission puncturing scheme in accordance with prioritizing retransmissions for some cumulative portions of the message ahead of other cumulative portions, such as by granting prioritized cumulative portions of the message relatively earlier transmission occasions in the transmission puncturing scheme.

  • Publication number: 20230143623
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for envelope tracking schemes for a node in a wireless communication network. One aspect provides a method for wireless communication by a transmitter device. The method generally includes: combining envelopes associated with subbands of an input signal to be amplified for transmission based on a combination function; amplifying, via an amplifier, the input signal to generate a transmission signal, the input signal being amplified based on a combined envelope signal, representing the combination of the envelopes, received at a supply input of the amplifier; and transmitting the transmission signal to a receiver device.

  • Publication number: 20230130337
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine, periodically, at least one metric associated with a current reference signal on a sidelink. Accordingly, the UE may extend a time window allowed for a search for a new reference signal on the sidelink based at least in part on the at least one metric. For example, the UE may extend the time window as a function of a discontinuous reception cycle associated with the UE. Alternatively, the UE may extend the time window for a preconfigured amount of time. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20230120730
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a first message indicating a capability of the UE to jointly modulate data with tone reservation signals on an individual subcarrier basis. Accordingly, the UE may receive a second message activating joint modulation of data with tone reservation signals for the UE. In some examples, the UE may also receive control signaling indicating various parameters to use for joint modulation of data with tone reservation signals. The UE may communicate with a base station over multiple subcarriers in accordance with the second message and the control signaling, where one or more of the multiple subcarriers carry data jointly modulated with tone reservation signals on an individual subcarrier basis. The described techniques may enable the UE to perform wireless communications with higher throughput, reduced power consumption, and improved spectral efficiency, among other benefits.

  • Patent number: 11627018
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may perform both a channel estimation and a non-linearity estimation (e.g., a power amplifier (PA) model estimation) on a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) transmitted by a base station. For example, the DMRS may include two portions that correspond to two peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) values. Low PAPR values may enable the UE to perform the channel estimation, and high PAPR values may enable the UE to perform the PA non-linearity estimation. Accordingly, a first portion of the DMRS may correspond to a lower PAPR value, and the second portion of the DMRS may correspond to a higher PAPR value. In some examples, the base station may signal different parameters for each portion of the DMRS to the UE, or the UE may use fixed values to receive each portion of the DMRS.

  • Patent number: 11616537
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Aspects of the present disclosure describe spatial precoding for inter symbol interference reduction in single carrier. Generally, the described techniques provide for one or more wireless devices (e.g., a user equipment (UE) and a network entity) to determine a weighted sum of several beams, each with a different delay, to form a spatial precoder that increases signal to interference noise ratios while improving signaling quality by diversifying the number of beams carrying subsequent messaging. The one or more wireless devices may determine complex gain values and delay parameters based on reference signals. The one or more wireless devices may utilize the complex gain values and delay parameters such that subsequent transmissions may be received coherently over multiple beams.

  • Patent number: 11616667
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques related to wireless communication system in which multi-level encoded modulation (MLCM) is applied to non-coherent communication. In the proposed techniques, a small fraction of differential phase rotations or bits participating in differential symbol coding are protected with strong codes while other complementary differential phase rotations or bits are protected with weaker codes. Compared to conventional non-coherent communication techniques in which a uniform protection is applied to any fraction of differential phase rotation or any bit of a differential symbol, the proposed MLCM approach enables more spectrally efficient scheme.

  • Publication number: 20230091116
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a capability message indicating a capability of the UE to perform bandwidth-limited envelope tracking or a capability of the UE to compensate for bandwidth-limited envelope tracking distortion. The UE may receive a request for the UE to activate bandwidth-limited envelope tracking or a request for the UE to compensate for bandwidth-limited envelope tracking distortion. In some examples, the UE may transmit an uplink message using a bandwidth-limited envelope tracking configuration. In other examples, the UE may receive a downlink message and use digital post distortion (DPoD) to correct bandwidth-limited envelope tracking distortions in the downlink message. Aspects of the present disclosure may enable the UE to use bandwidth-limited envelope tracking and DPoD for wideband signal transmissions, which may result in lower power consumption at the UE.

  • Publication number: 20230047824
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for flexible selection of a type of mapping to use for mapping code blocks to a set of resources for transmission. A user equipment (UE) may transmit assistance information to a base station to assist the base station in selecting from a set of mapping types available for code block mapping. The UE may then receive, from the base station, an indication of a selected mapping type for code block mapping based on the assistance information. The assistance information may include a recommendation of a mapping type or a metric of a channel that the base station may use to select the mapping type. Because the mapping type may be selected dynamically (e.g., “on the fly”), the UE and the base station may be able to adaptively exploit different types of diversity.

  • Patent number: 11581984
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a retransmission protocol that utilizes compressed feedback. Various implementations relate generally to a compressed feedback technique for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ). Upon receiving a compressed feedback value, a sending device may generate a retransmission codeblock. The retransmission codeblock may be derived from multiple codeblocks in a set of codeblocks. A receiving device can use the retransmission codeblock to obtain any failed codeblock in the set of codeblocks based on all other previously decoded codeblocks in the set of codeblocks. Thus, the receiving device does not need to indicate which codeblock in the set failed, but only needs to send a compressed feedback value that indicates which sets of codeblocks have had a single codeblock failure.
