  • Publication number: 20150033255
Abstract: A scalable and cost-effective solution for implementing a cache in a data processing environment. A sliding window comprises a number of past time slots. For each time slot, a number of request for a data item is counted. A mean request rate for the data item is computed over the sliding window. If the mean request rate is superior to a threshold, the data item is added to cache, or the data item is removed from cache otherwise.

  • Publication number: 20140226909
Abstract: The proliferation of digital devices has favored an explosion of the amount of image data stored by a user, and it is quite easy for a user to end up with many image duplicates in the user's image library. Prior art solutions can still be optimized with regard to detection of duplicate images in data storage. Notably, user intervention is to be restricted. A correspondence is detected between a first and a second image of the collection, and metadata is associated with the second image that characterizes the detected correspondence. Then, a predetermined image collection management action is applied to second images according to the associated metadata.

  • Patent number: 8085770
Abstract: Within the framework of a wireless local area network, the reliability of the transporting of the multicast streams is not enhanced by an acknowledgement of receipt mechanism. To improve this reliability the invention proposes a method of transporting packets transmitted in multicast mode by a device for connection between a first network and a second network, the multicast packets originating from the second network destined for clients of the first network, characterized in that it comprises a step of reception of multicast packets and the despatching according to a unicast transmission mode of at least certain packets transmitted in multicast mode to at least one of the clients of the first network that are subscribers to the transmission group.

  • Patent number: 8009590
Abstract: Method for linking a first and a second communication bus through a wireless link, comprising a first portal connected to the first bus and a second portal connected to the second bus, said first and second portal communicating over a wireless connection. The method comprises the steps of: associating the two portals to the wireless network; exchanging, between the two portals of self identification packets of nodes connected to their respective local busses, including the self identification packets of the portals themselves; generating a reset on each bus; carrying out a self identification procedure on each bus, where each portal generates self identification packets for itself and for nodes of the respective remote bus, using the self identification packets received following the association step.

  • Patent number: 8004987
Abstract: The invention concerns method to distinguish between streams received by an access point from a distribution network and transmitted to stations and a way to give better priority to some of them towards others. In a system where streams are transmitted with a level of priority corresponding to there type, it adds a selection criterion to determine priority between streams of the same type. The invention also concerns an access point implementing the method.

  • Patent number: 8005021
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for transmitting packets in a network comprising at least a first sub-network and a second sub-network connected through a transparent communication link, said link comprising at least a first interface device connected to the first sub-network and a second interface device connected to the second sub-network. The method comprises the steps of: attributing a first set of addresses to the interface devices on the communication link; attributing a second set of addresses to nodes connected to the sub-networks, the attribution of the second set being done independently from the attribution of the first set; checking whether there appears a conflict between an address of the first set and an address of the second set, and in the affirmative: changing the conflicting address of the first set to a non conflicting address. The invention also concerns a device for implementing the method as well as a method for detecting and transmitting packets to be transmitted over the link.
