  • Patent number: 7778175
Abstract: In a method of managing a request for remote access to a multimedia content, a corresponding datum stream is inserted at the instant or in a delayed manner with the set of the data streams being transmitted on a distribution network as a function of a capacity threshold of this network. Each data stream is of the variable-throughput type, with a data throughput profile corresponding, whose width corresponds to a time of transmission of the stream. The management of the request comprises a verification that the capacity of the network is not exceeded on the width of the profile, as a function of a given instant of insertion, of the throughput of the data stream or streams in progress on the said distribution network, obtained on the basis of the throughput profiles of these streams, and of the throughput profile of the requested stream.

  • Patent number: 7680911
Abstract: A method for distributed management of a catalogue of objects in a communication network comprising devices. The method comprises the step of registering local objects present in a device in a local registry managed at the level of the device, wherein a local object may formulate a request for a list of objects, and receive a collected response. The request is transmitted to the single local registry of the device hosting the local object and propagated through the local registry to distant registries. The responses are collected by the local registry and the collected response is transmitted to the local object that formulated the initial request. The invention applies in particular within the context of home communication networks.

  • Publication number: 20090285094
Abstract: The invention concerns a solution for detecting conditions of dearth and overflow of a client input buffer to a real time content distribution. Said detection is performed upstream of clients through a dynamic estimation of the fill factor of the input buffers of said clients. Thus, it is possible to predict the occurrence of dearth or overflow situations and to take actions such as inserting stored video sequences or storing queueing packets.

  • Patent number: 7461156
Abstract: A method for determining a remote timeout parameter in a network comprising a link between a first bus and a third bus. The link is implemented through a first and a second bridge portal connected respectively to the first and the third bus, and is modelized as a second bus connected to the first bus and the third bus through bridges. Upon solicitation to provide its contribution to a timeout for a request subaction, the first bridge portal adds to the timeout contribution the first bridge portal's maximum request subaction processing time and either the link's maximum transmission time of half of the link's maximum transmission time, depending on the location of the destination node of the request subaction.
