  • Patent number: 7107459
Abstract: Methods and systems for accessing information in and loading encrypted information to memory. A processor provides virtual address information to a memory management unit. In response, the memory management unit retrieves a key tag and physical address information corresponding to the virtual address information. The memory management unit then sends the key tag and physical address information to the processor. The processor then determines whether a memory location corresponding to the physical address information is encrypted based on the key tag, and retrieves a secret key using the key tag based on the determining. Thereafter, information read from the memory location is decrypted using the secret key.

  • Publication number: 20060077977
Abstract: Methods and systems consistent with the present invention establish a virtual network on top of current IP network naming schemes. The virtual network uses a separate layer to create a modification to the IP packet format that is used to separate network behavior from addressing. As a result of the modification to the packet format, any type of delivery method may be assigned to any address or group of addresses. The virtual network also maintains secure communications between nodes, while providing the flexibility of assigning delivery methods independent of the delivery addresses.

  • Patent number: 7024232
Abstract: A communication device 10 and a corresponding method are arranged for changing the radiation pattern of an antenna 14, where the radiation pattern of the antenna 14 is set to a half-space pattern if the communication device 10 is in close proximity to an object. A reflector 18 is activated to produce the half space radiation pattern. The reflector 18 is deactivated to produce the full space pattern. A switching device 26 determines the state of the reflector 18. A sensing and control device 23 controls the state of the switching device 26.

  • Publication number: 20030037235
Abstract: A system for automatically encrypting and decrypting data packet sent from a source host to a destination host across a public internetwork. A tunnelling bridge is positioned at each network, and intercepts all packets transmitted to or from its associated network. The tunnelling bridge includes tables indicated pairs of hosts or pairs of networks between which packets should be encrypted. When a packet is transmitted from a first host, the tunnelling bridge of that host's network intercepts the packet, and determines from its header information whether packets from that host that are directed to the specified destination host should be encrypted; or, alternatively, whether packets from the source host's network that are directed to the destination host's network should be encrypted.

  • Publication number: 20020098129
Abstract: The present invention specifically relates to the methods and apparatus for heating a catalyst bed for start-up and for providing heat to a catalyst bed during transient operation to maintain desired reaction temperatures. An electrical heating element may directly or indirectly heat the catalyst. The direct heating of catalyst is achieved by having direct contact of the heater element with the catalyst. Indirect heating is achieved by direct heating of a fluid, such as a process flow, which in turn flows through the catalyst, thereby transferring heat to the catalyst. Additionally, indirect heating may be achieved by placing the heating element within a sheath that is then either in direct contact with the catalyst or fluid that flows through the catalyst. By these means, catalyst of many forms may employ this catalyst heater including pellets, extrudates, spheres, and monoliths.

  • Patent number: 6299792
Abstract: Refrigerant compositions containing polymeric oil-return agents which solubilize or disperse mineral and synthetic oil lubricants with hydrofluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon/hydrochlorofluorocarbon-based refrigerants are disclosed. These polymeric oil-return agents, such as copolymers of fluorinated and non-fluorinated methacrylates, as a small proportion of an overall refrigerant composition, permit efficient return of mineral and synthetic oil lubricants from non-compressor zones back to a compressor zone in a refrigeration system operating with hydrofluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon/hydrochlorofluorocarbon-based refrigerants.

  • Patent number: 6238002
Abstract: A seat back assembly for a vehicle including a seat back, a pivot device having a pivot axis, and an armrest. The seat back is connected to the pivot device for rotational movement relative to the seat cushion between an upright position and a folded position. The armrest is connected to the pivot device for rotational movement relative to the seat back between a deployed position and retracted position. Both the seat back and the armrest pivot about a common pivot axis. The seat back assembly (1) impedes the rotational movement of the armrest beyond the retracted position; (2) holds the armrest in the retracted position when the seat back is in the fold position; and (3) urges the arm rest from the deployed position to the retracted position during rotational movement of the seat back from the upright position to the folded position.

  • Patent number: 6234553
Abstract: A flexible seating system for a vehicle having a seat with a generally horizontal seat cushion and an upright seat back. The seat is movable from a use position to a stowed position lying flat on the vehicle floor or recessed within a well in the vehicle floor in which the seat back overlies the seat cushion. The seat back has an outboard edge located adjacent a side wall of the vehicle with a slidable bearing device extending from the outboard edge of the seat back to a track mounted to the vehicle side wall to guide motion of the seat back as the seat is moved between the use and stowed positions. One or more supports are provided beneath the seat bottom to hold the seat bottom in a spaced relation above the vehicle floor in the use position. The supports and the seat bottom form a 4-bar linkage which rotates as the seat moves between the use and stowed positions.

  • Patent number: 6095076
Abstract: A hydrofoil marine vehicle having separate forward and rearward hydrofoil wings connected by a center beam. The generally V-shaped hydrofoil wings are affixed to the center beam at either end by means of flexibly mounted struts. The center beam supports a passenger cabin or pod which may also include a gyroscopic element. In one embodiment of the marine vehicle, the pod, which is hydraulically suspended above the center beam, houses a gyroscope which is approximately 4-10 feet in diameter and weighs about 100-500 pounds. The gyroscope acts as a pod stabilizer and energy absorbing mechanism. Static flotation for the marine vehicle is provided by the passenger pod. At slow forward speeds, the hydrofoils are submerged and the upper curved surfaces of the hydrofoils generate the lift required to bring the hydrofoils to the surface of the water.
