  • Publication number: 20080240241
Abstract: A first motion vector points from a source region of a source picture to a destination region of a destination picture. A second motion vector is scaled from the first motion vector based on a first temporal distance between the source picture and the interpolation picture. A third motion vector is scaled from the first motion vector based on a second temporal distance between the destination picture and the interpolation picture. A weight of a first interpolation region of the interpolation picture is calculated using distortion energy of the source region. A first motion compensation picture compensated from the source region to a temporal position of the interpolation picture using the second motion vector, and a second motion compensation picture compensated from the destination region to the temporal position using the third motion vector are calculated.

  • Publication number: 20080226193
Abstract: An estimation unit calculates an estimated motion vector between a first source region of a plurality of source regions and a first destination region on a destination picture. The first destination region has the highest correlation with the first source region. A weight calculation unit searches a plurality of second destination regions. Each second destination region is pointed by the estimated motion vector of another source region adjacent to the first source region. The weight calculation unit extracts pixel values of each second destination region, calculates a difference of pixel values between the first source region and each second destination region, and calculates a weight based on the difference. The weight is smaller if the difference is larger. A filtering unit calculates a motion vector of the first source region by averaging the estimated motion vectors with the weight.

  • Publication number: 20080226191
Abstract: A smoothing filter generates a smoothed picture by smoothing a brightness component of an input picture. An adjustment filter generates an adjusted picture by applying a filter to an area of the input picture. The filter has the same characteristic as the smoothing filter. The area has a brightness matched with a predetermined condition of noise detection. A contrast component calculation unit calculates a contrast component of the input picture by dividing each pixel value of the adjusted picture with a corresponding pixel value of the smoothed picture. An output picture generation unit generates an output picture by multiplying the smoothed picture with the contrast component.

  • Publication number: 20080211943
Abstract: In a pixel unit, cells are arranged in rows and columns two-dimensionally. Each of the cells accumulates signal charge obtained by photoelectrically converting light incident on photoelectric conversion section and outputs a voltage corresponding to the accumulated signal charge. On the cells, W, R, G, and B color filters are provided. Analog signals output from the W pixel, R pixel, G pixel, and B pixel are converted into digital signals by an analog/digital converter circuit, which outputs a W signal, an R signal, a G signal, and a B signal separately. A W signal saturated signal quantity is controlled by a saturated signal quantity control circuit. Then, a signal generator circuit corrects the R signal, the G signal, and the B signal using the W signal, the R signal, the G signal, and B signal output from the analog/digital converter circuit and outputs the corrected R, G, and B signals.
