Patent number: 6586030Abstract: A method of producing a seasoned precooked meat product, such as bacon, wherein the meat product is sized or sliced into individual unconnected units and thereafter heated to cook the individual units and thereby generate hot grease. A seasoning from a familiar grouping is then applied to the cooked meat product units so that it commingles with the hot grease and binds to the meat product units to provide an intense unique flavor commensurate with the meat seasoning with little negative visual impact. The flavored meat product units are then packaged, preferably in separated layers, within bags containing inert gases and thereafter rapidly frozen and stored.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2000Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Sara Lee CorporationInventor: Gordon Lee Smith

Patent number: 6209297Abstract: An implement for a combine, having an integral transport system with a pair of ground engaging wheels that are moved between transport positions used in transporting the implement and stowed positions on the implement during use of the implement. The wheels may be used as gauge wheels during use to support the ends of the implement. A trailer tongue is retractable and stowed onboard the implement during use, as is a tongue jack. Lights are provided at the end of the implement for visibility during transport. The lights are stowed beneath a cover on the end of the implement to protect the lights from damage during use. All components of the transport system are carried on the implement during use to ensure that they are with the implement when needed to transport the implement. All components are mounted with pins, enabling the implement to be converted between transport and use configurations without the use of hand tools.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1999Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Sidney Wayne Yeomans, Bradley James Watts, Gordon Lee Salley, Kevin D. Patent number: 6138447Abstract: A non-binding reel mount for a harvester platform includes added clearance between the sidewalls of a reel mounting bracket and the reel lifting arms. Side bushings are provided between the brackets and the arms at the center of the arms to prevent lateral motion of the brackets relative to the arms but enable twisting or rotation of the brackets relative to the arms. The non-binding reel mount thus enables one lift cylinder to be fully extended without causing binding between the reel mounting brackets and the reel support arms during a cylinder charging operation. The reel mount can be designed to provide the desired amount of vertical adjustment to the reel. In an alternative embodiment, a single bushing is provided at the top of the support arm that extends between the two sidewalls of the mounting bracket and wraps around the upper corners of the support arm to prevent lateral shifting while permitting rotation of the mounting bracket on the support arm.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1999Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Michelle Lynn Stivers, Gordon Lee Salley

Patent number: 6116010Abstract: An end knife guard for a cutterbar assembly has a body portion forming a lower section and an upper section spaced in relation to one another to define a horizontal slot within which a knife section is confined, and freely movable. The lower section has an inboard lateral side edge that forms a cutting surface. An outboard lateral side edge forms a surface that tapers laterally inward from the forward end of the body portion to form an open area for discharge of trash at the end of the cutterbar assembly. The tapered outboard edge is positioned adjacent to the upright wall of a platform end divider cover. Such that the open area for discharge of trash is between the guard outboard edge and the divider cover, allowing trash to drop from the guard while maintaining the divider cover outer wall close to the end of the cutterbar assembly.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1999Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Gordon Lee Salley

Patent number: 5670931Abstract: The present invention impresses the data on the power signal by utilizing a saturable core reactor. The saturable core reactor uses two cores. Each core has both load windings and control windings. The control windings are selectively energized to alter an electrical characteristic of the current passing through the load windings. The saturable core reactor is designed with cores made of a highly magnetically permeable material so that the cores are easily saturated. The cyclical saturation of the cores achieved by the load current, and the selective saturation of the cores achieved by selectively applying a control current, results in "deformations" being selectively formed at the zero crossings of the load current waveform. These "deformations" can be selectively formed on the power signal to represent a binary data stream.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1994Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: Gordon Lee Besser, Cecil Glynn Davis, Edward Bryant Tickell, Jr., Dick Lee Knox, John Dee Martin, Jr.
