Patent number: 9782008Abstract: A chair back height adjustment mechanism comprises a guide having an abutment surface at a lateral side of the guide which extends along an adjustment direction. The chair back height adjustment mechanism comprises an adjusting device supported on the guide so as to be displaceable along the adjustment direction. The adjusting device comprises a carrier, a coupling member which is moveably supported on the carrier, and a bias mechanism. The coupling member has a contact face shaped to abut on the abutment surface of the guide and a slanted face. The bias mechanism is operative to apply a force onto the slanted face to urge the contact face of the coupling member against the abutment surface of the guide.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 2014Date of Patent: October 10, 2017Assignee: L&P Property Management CompanyInventors: Alessandro Slongo, Mark Grant Jones, Nigel Charles Fitzsimmonds

Patent number: 8256056Abstract: A rotatable scrub brush having particular application for removing dried residue from a bucket or similar container. The scrub brush includes a shaft, one end of which can be coupled to a conventional drill. The opposite end of the shaft is connected to a hollow bulb having cleaning bristles projecting outwardly therefrom. Openings through the bottom of the hollow bulb communicate with respective water inlet ducts. When the bulb is dipped in water standing in the bucket to be cleaned, the water will flow upwardly through the inlet ducts to be collected inside the bulb. A rotational force generated by the drill is imparted to the bulb by way of the shaft to cause the bulb to spin at high speed. As the spinning bulb is lifted out of the standing water and moved along the sides of the bucket, the water collected at the interior of the bulb will be expelled therefrom through outlet ports in order to moisten the cleaning bristles and the residue on the bucket to be removed by the bristles.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2008Date of Patent: September 4, 2012Inventor: Grant Jones

Patent number: 7896718Abstract: Keel or fin (1) for a watercraft such as a surfboard is conventional in shape but comprises major portion (2) fixed to the board by peg (10) and minor, flexible, trailing portion (3) fixed to major portion (2). Minor portion (3) has a more rigid leading edge (16) which slides dovetail fashion onto trailing edge (8, 9) of major portion (2) and is locked in place by grub screw (7). Minor portion (3) has core (11) of rubber allowing it to flex sideways under water pressure. Excessive movement of trailing edge (12) of minor portion (3) is prevented when edge (12) contacts stops (4) positioned on either side on the board. Minor portion (3) may be completely surrounded in an aperture in major portion (2) or may have apertures to which air is fed via ducting.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2006Date of Patent: March 1, 2011Inventor: Cameron Grant Jones

Patent number: 7779730Abstract: A multi-function hand-operated tool that is compact in size and of light weight so as to be carried and used to perform a variety of different jobs by carpenters, painters, do-it-yourselfers, and the like. The tool includes a nail set to transmit a driving force to the head of a nail to cause the nail to be countersunk in a work surface. An open mouth which is sized to receive the cap on a bottle cooperates with a lip that applies a rotational force to remove the cap from the bottle. A nail extractor having a cavity in which to surround and capture the head of a nail transmits a pulling force to the nail head to cause the nail to be removed from a work surface. A channel having a flush-mounted magnet carries a nail to be positioned in upstanding alignment against a work surface so that the nail can be driven therein. A pair of spaced, outwardly projecting teeth are located between a lid and a can to pry the lid off the can.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2008Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Inventor: Grant Jones

Patent number: 7127950Abstract: A method of measuring a load on a surface produced by a contact force. An elastic film or coating is located on a supporting surface to provide an indication of normal and tangential or shear forces applied to the surface. A thickness measurement, corresponding to a normal displacement, and a tangential displacement of the film, corresponding to a shear displacement, is obtained and input to a response function to reconstruct the normal and shear load components of the contact force on the surface. A differential thickness measurement of the film is detected by an optical method in which a luminescent output from a luminophore in the film is measured. A luminescent output from a reference luminophore located below the film is also measured to provide a measurement system independent of the illumination source used to produce the luminescent output.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2004Date of Patent: October 31, 2006Assignee: Innovative Scientific Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Sergey D.
