  • Patent number: 6966236
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system to characterize the contamination levels of bulk materials, the method comprises drilling into the material, sampling material from the drill point at predetermined intervals, and analyzing the sampled material. Such an embodiment may be accomplished by using a drill with a specialized cutting and sampling head, drill bits, a sample collection units and a vacuum pump. The embodiment in conjunction with portable radiometric instruments produces a profile of radiological or chemical contamination through the material being studied.

  • Patent number: 6793792
Abstract: Methods for electroplating metal can include passing an electrical current through a conductive surface and an electroplating solution adjacent the conductive surface. An electroplating voltage for the conductive surface and the electroplating solution can be determined based on the electrical current through the conductive surface and the electroplating solution adjacent the conductive surface. The determined electroplating voltage can then be maintained while electroplating the metal from the electroplating solution on the conductive surface. Related systems are also discussed.

  • Patent number: 6684471
Abstract: A hinge pin remover tool comprising a housing block, an internal gear train for providing a high mechanical force advantage in a direction vertical and parallel with the housing block, front grooved face surface, to activate a vertical and horizontal movable pry head mechanism having a disc-beveled pry wedge, the jaw face end section adapted to be forced into a wedged interference contact position within the narrow gap space intersection that is formed between the front undershoulder of a hinge pin head and the hinge pin barrel enclosure top surface of a door hinge assembly. When the gear train is activated, the gear train forces the pry head mechanism to wedge the jaw face, disc-beveled pry wedge into the gap space intersection between the hinge pin front undershoulder and hinge pin barrel enclosure top surface to thereby push the hinge pin shaft vertically upward for subsequent removal from the hinge pin barrel housing enclosure.

  • Patent number: 6619745
Abstract: A chair having an adjustable seat (1) and back (3) has a connection assembly for connecting the back to an adjustment mechanism (4) of the chair. The assembly has a rigid L-shaped connection bar (7) one end (7b) of which is insertable into a receiving structure (4a) of the mechanism (4). A catch mechanism is provided to hold this end (7b) in a locking position in the receiving structure (4a). The catch mechanism can be released e.g. with a screwdriver inserted through a side aperture (26) to allow ready removal of the back (3). The end (7b) may have a projection (8) which engages a hole (15) and a spring loaded wedge member (25) may be provided to hold the end (7a) between upper and lower plates (17, 12). This wedge member (25) may be slidable back in a slot (20) against the spring loading for release of the catch mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6595460
Abstract: A method of aligning the edge of an elongated printable media on the web handling assembly of a printer is disclosed. The method includes the steps of projecting an alignment marker onto at least a portion of the web handling assembly, passing the elongated printable media through the web handling assembly, and aligning the edge of the elongated printable media with the alignment marker such that the edge is substantially co-linear with the alignment marker. An apparatus for aligning an elongated printable media on the web handling assembly of a printer is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5862644
Abstract: A tile setting hand tool for setting floor tile in a bed of mortar comprises a base plate having an under surface and an upper surface, and having a length, L, a width, W, and a thickness, t. A number, N, of pins or nails is attached to the plate, each being spaced apart from one another and each depending a distance, d, from the plate under surface; and including a handle projecting upwardly from the plate upper surface. The plate is preferably constructed from wood. The dimensions L, W, and t are preferably twelve inches, three inches and one-half, respectively. The pins or nails are arranged in three parallel and side-by-side columns, each having nine equally spaced part pins or nails. Preferably finishing nails are used which project about three-quarters of an inch from the under surface of the plate. Plurality of columns and rows. Lower regions of at least side edges of the plate are beveled inwardly about 45 degrees to match beveled side edges of typical floor tiles.

  • Patent number: 5790416
Abstract: A process and implementing computer system (13) for updating circuit representations in a hierarchical Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) format (400-410) based upon changes made to the primitive components of the circuit in a flat representation (201-213) includes performing a depth first search (505) on the hierarchical representation of the circuit beginning at the root level (501) for a given path. At each lower level, each child instance is visited (505) and if there is any change in any attribute between the hierarchical and flat representations (509), the component in the hierarchical representation which needs to be changed is copied (807) and connected to the children components of the original hierarchical representation. Changes in the attributes of the children components are made in the copied component (809).
