  • Patent number: 9350596
Abstract: A computer-implemented virtual application appliance (VAA) and method for managing migration of an application on a source computer to a virtual application within the VAA on a target computer networked to the source computer are disclosed. The VAA includes resources on the target computer, a virtual application for execution in the VAA, and network credentials for remotely connecting to the source computer and copying data resources from the source computer. A runtime intercept of the VAA compares on-demand resource requests of the virtual application to resources on the target computer and provides the requested resource to the virtual application. When the runtime intercept fails to locate the requested resource in the resources on the target computer, a tether of the VAA remotely retrieves the requested resource from the source computer using the network credentials and then copies the requested resource into the resources on the target computer.

  • Patent number: 7679943
Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus for providing an uninterruptible power supply for an electronic device. The apparatus includes an AC-to-DC power supply that receives an external AC voltage supply and outputs a DC voltage to the electronic device. The power supply includes a bridge rectifier that rectifies the AC voltage from the external AC voltage supply, a boost power factor correction (PFC) converter that boosts the rectified voltage, and a line isolated DC-to-DC converter that changes the boosted voltage to the operating voltage range of the electronic device. The apparatus also includes an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) subsystem that contains, a controller that monitors the external AC voltage supply for interruptions, and a high voltage isolated DC-to-DC (HVDC) converter that supplies high voltage DC power directly to the PFC converter if the controller detects an interruption in the external AC voltage supply.

  • Publication number: 20080285221
Abstract: A space efficient, portable computer unit has been developed. The computer unit includes a unit case that is generally cubic shaped and a cooling system. The cooling system includes multiple exhaust fan mounted on the rear of the unit case and a filter mounted on the front of the unit case. The exhaust fan draws cooling air from the exterior of the unit case through the filter. The internal computer components are mounted inside the unit case, so that each internal computer component is arranged to receive cooling air directly from the filter and avoid heat stacking of the components.
