Abstract: Method and apparatus for dissipating high frequency electromagnetic energy inside a material. The apparatus comprises a conductive jacket defining a resonant chamber, a coil inside said chamber connected to a coaxial cable supplied by a high frequency generator, the frequency of which is equal to the resonant frequency of the chamber. The impedance of the resonator and its contents is matched to that of the coaxial cable. Automatic means may be provided for altering the resonator impedance to compensate for changes in load impedance.

Abstract: A process for preparing a cosmetic blotting paper toweling composition for the skin consisting essentially of a flexible solid blotting paper toweling support having a multiplicity of mechanical pressure rupturable, cosmetic containing microcapsules, which are homogeneously distributed therein, comprises dispersing the microcapsules in a liquid blotting paper paste phase at a time when the liquid blotting paper paste phase has a density close to that of the microcapsules so that the microcapsules are homogeneously distributed therein and solidifying the liquid phase to produce said cosmetic composition.

Abstract: Indoaniline of the formula ##SPC1## wherein R.sub.1 represents hydrogen, halogen, alkyl or alkoxy; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent alkyl; R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 each independently represent hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, acylamino, ureido or carbalkoxyamino and R.sub.5 can also represent amino, alkylamino, hydroxy alkylamino or carbamylalkylamino, the alkyl and alkoxy groups above being able to contain 1 to 6 carbon atoms and the acyl group from 2 to 7 carbon atoms with the condition that R.sub.5 does not represent hydrogen, chlorine, methyl or methoxy and when R.sub.5 represents acetylamino, R.sub.6 does not represent hydrogen; it being understood that the above compounds can be present in the tautomeric form of that represented by formula (I). The indoaniline is usefully employed in dye compositions for keratinic fibers, especially living human hair.

Abstract: A compound of the formula ##SPC1##Wherein R is -alkylaminodialkyl, -alkylmorpholino or -alkylpiperidino and X is halogen, the alkyl portion of R having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and the salts of said compound. This compound can be used as an intermediate to produce hair dyes.

Abstract: A method, composition and compounds useful in said compositions for treating the skin and scalp characterized by an excessive secretion of sebum to improve the condition thereof by reducing said excessive secretion of sebum includes topically applying to a human having skin and/or a scalp so characterized a cosmetic composition containing as an active ingredient a derivative of cysteine or cysteamine. The composition contains about 0.1-5 weight percent of said derivative and also contains as a carrier for the active ingredient, water, a mixture of water and a lower alkanol, a lower alkanol, a mixture of a lower alkanol and a cosmetic resin, a reducing agent, a neutralizing agent or a vegetable oil.

Abstract: Hair dye and hair-setting lotion compositions contain a diphenylamine of the formula ##SPC1##Wherein Z represents amino, acylamino or hydroxy, R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sub.4 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or together with R.sub.1 and the nitrogen atom to which R.sub.4 is attached form a dihydro-oxazine or pyrroline heterocycle and R.sub.5 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or together with R.sub.2 and the nitrogen atom to which R.sub.5 is attached form a dihydro-oxazine or pyrroline heterocycle and the acid salts of said diphenylamine.

Abstract: Process for improving and modifying the cosmetic properties of living human hair comprising transforming about 25 to 70% of the cystine in hair that is not subjected to any extension stress into lanthionine. The process is carried out with an aqueous medium having a pH between about 10.5 and 13 containing at least one alkali or alkaline earth metal hydroxide.

Abstract: The invention pertains to indamines and salts thereof which are usefully employed in a dye composition for coloring keratinous fibers, especially human hair and in hair setting lotions which also includes a film-forming cosmetic resin.

Abstract: Indoaniline having the formula ##SPC1##Wherein Z represents amino, acylamino or hydroxy; R.sub.5, R.sub.6 and R.sub.7 each independently represent hydrogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 each independently represent hydrogen, lower alkyl or lower alkyl substituted with hydroxy, carbamoyl, acylamino or piperidinyl, R.sub.8 and R.sub.5 or R.sub.9 and R.sub.6 being able to form with the adjacent nitrogen and carbon atoms a dihydrooxazine or pyrroline heterocycle; and the salts formed by these indoanilines with an organic or inorganic acid, and the double zinc salts of these indoanilines, and the tautomers thereof. These indoanilines are usefully employed for dyeing keratinous fibers, and in particular, human hair.

Abstract: Polycondensable compound and a process for treating hair employing a composition containing said polycondensable compound having the formula ##EQU1## wherein X is O or S; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are ethyl or together form the divalent radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- or ##EQU2## R.sub.3 and R.sub.3 ' are hydrogen or taken together form the divalent radical --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --, Y is hydrogen, ##EQU3## --C.sub.12 H.sub.25 and --C.sub.18 H.sub.37 and an acid catalyst in an amount effective to polymerize the compound on the hair and then drying the hair.

Abstract: Hair dye and hair setting lotion compositions containing an indoaniline having the formula ##SPC1##Wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 represents hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms and lower alkoxy having 1-4 carbon atoms. The indoaniline is prepared by condensing on 2,6-diamino pyridine a corresponding paraminophenol, a salt of the paraminophenol or a corresponding quinonechloroimide.

Abstract: Non-ionic surface-active agents having the formula: ##EQU1## in which R is alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxyalkyl and alkaryloxyalkyl, having 8 to 22 carbon atoms, X represents a CH.sub.2 OH or CH.sub.2 O--CH.sub.2 --CHOH--CH.sub.2 OH group, p and q each independently represent a number between 0 and 10 inclusive with the proviso that the sum of p and q is between 1 and 10 inclusive, and methods for preparing said surface-active agents comprising the step of polycondensing n molecules of glycerol epihalohydrin or allylglycidylether with a .alpha.-diol having the formula: ##EQU2## hydroxylating the resulting condensate and subjecting the resulting hydroxylated product to ethanolysis.

Abstract: A method for treating a scalp characterized by an excessive secretion of sebum, to improve the condition thereof by reducing said excessive secretion comprising orally administering to a human being having a scalp so characterized a therapeutic composition comprising an ingestible carrier admixed with, as a non-toxic active compound, cysteine or cysteamine derivatives, the active compound is present in amounts of about 0.75-3 weight percent of the composition which is administered at a rate of about 1-5 mg/kg/day based on the weight of the human being during a period of about 15 days.
