Abstract: A wireless power and communication unit for field devices is configured to connect to a field device and provide operating power and wired digital communication between the unit and the field device. RF circuitry in the unit is configured for radio frequency communication. In one embodiment, power supply circuitry in the unit includes one or more solar power cells that convert solar energy into electricity to power both the unit and the field device. The unit interacts with the field device in accordance with a standard industry communication protocol. The unit communicates wirelessly with an external device, such as a control room, based upon the interaction with the field device.

Abstract: The present invention relates to light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and related components, processes, systems, and methods. In certain embodiments, an LED that provides improved optical and thermal efficiency when used in optical systems with a non-rectangular input aperture (e.g., a circular aperture) is described. In some embodiments, the emission surface of the LED and/or an emitter output aperture can be shaped (e.g., in a non-rectangular shape) such that enhanced optical and thermal efficiencies are achieved. In addition, in some embodiments, chip designs and processes that may be employed in order to produce such devices are described.

Abstract: Prior to instrumenting a turbine wheel for component and developmental testing, a protective coating is applied to the turbine wheel so that sensors can be welded to the coating rather than to the base material of the turbine wheel. But it is important to prevent the dovetail slots, which are critical to the usable life of the turbine wheel, from being coated. Plugs are provided that can be inserted into the dovetail slots prior to applying the coating. Each plug is shaped to match the shape profile of the dovetail slot. The plug prevents critical areas from being coated, removes the need for post processing, and allows a single coating to be applied.

In one embodiment, a method is provided comprising of depositing a precursor material onto a substrate, wherein the precursor material may include or may be used with an additive to minimize concentration of group IIIA material such as Ga in the back portion of the final semiconductor layer. The additive may be a non-copper Group IB additive in elemental or alloy form. Some embodiments may use both selenium and sulfur, forming a senary or higher semiconductor alloy. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. The discovery rights to a given set of discoverable content in the videogame provide a player or group of players to which they are assigned control over one or more aspects of the given set of discoverable content. This control may be observable by other players or groups of players of the videogame, and may be exclusive to the assigned user or user group. The provision of discovery rights may encourage a more complete exploration of a videogame by players or groups in an effort to obtain more discovery rights. The discovery rights may provide discovering players or groups with status within the videogame, an opportunity to reward friends and/or impede the progress of rivals, an opportunity to obtain value within the videogame, and/or provide other advantages to discovering players. Discovery rights may be transferable between players or groups.
