  • Publication number: 20070057085
Abstract: A dispenser that delivers a small but consistent and sustained amount of fluid over an extended period of time, particularly useful but not limited to dispensing pesticides when worn by cattle. The dispenser has a shell having an opening. A reservoir is disposed in the shell and is saturated with a pesticide. A wick is in fluid communication with the reservoir. The wick extends through the opening and has a greater capillary attraction or wicking ability than the reservoir, whereby during use of the dispenser the wick draws fluid from the reservoir and deposits it upon contact.

  • Patent number: 6974587
Abstract: An intraruminal device is provided for the time release dispensation of a medicament to a ruminant. The device has no metal parts which may damage slaughterhouse equipment or injure a human upon consumption of ground meat from a ruminant from which the device was not properly removed. The device may use a nonmetallic bladder assembly having a to supply a compressive force to the medicament matrix to keep the matrix abutted against the first end of the device. The device may also use a piston to create a fluid-tight seal allowing part of the device to be pressurized, allowing the piston to provide a compressive force to the medicament matrix. The matrix surface at the first end is exposed to ruminal juices for dissolution of the matrix and dispensation of the medicament into the rumen.

  • Publication number: 20050270689
Abstract: A hard disk drive has a motor mounting bracket with mounting screws that attach from outside the drive and external to the seal with a screw bolt pattern diameter that is larger than an outer diameter of the motor hub. This configuration greatly reduces contamination inside the disk drive since all contaminants due to the screws are sealed from entering the disk drive. Consequently, the bottom of the mounting bracket is extended to the form factor limit to increase the internal space that is provided for the stator/winding of the motor. In relatively high platter count disk drives, the bottom disk is positioned very close to the motor bracket with this approach, which normally would cause the air drag to increase drastically and thereby impede the performance of the disk drive. Bosses may be used on the bracket to accommodate blind tap hole depths from the external surface of the bracket.

  • Patent number: 6282196
Abstract: In a packet voice system, a dynamic build-out delay approach in a receiver during the duration of a call. In particular, the build-out delay is applied at least twice during the duration of the call. In one embodiment, a packet voice system includes an ATM Adaptation Layer Type 2 (AAL-2) and Service Specific Convergence Sublayer (SSCS) System. The receiver portion of the SSCS System recovers AAL-2 packets and plays back the compressed audio to a voice decoding element. In providing playback, the receiver applies the build-out delay at the start of each talk-spurt. The voice decoding element provides an uncompressed audio stream. In another embodiment, the receiver portion of the SSCS System applies the build-out delay at the start of the each talk-spurt as a function of the length of the previous silence interval.

  • Patent number: 6075798
Abstract: A packet voice system includes an ATM Adaptation Layer Type 2 (AAL-2) and Service Specific Convergence Sublayer (SSCS) System comprising a transmitter and a receiver. A portion of the 32 codepoints of the five bit RES (or UUI) field of the AAL-2 header are predefined to indicate an extended header. This a prior definition is stored in tables in both the transmitter and the receiver. The extended header itself comprises an additional octet appended to the AAL-2 header. A sequence number is normally carried in the RES field for the packet stream of voice calls that require sequence numbers. When the extended header is used, the sequence number is part of the extended header and thus messages are conveyed from the transmitter to the receiver without causing an interruption to sequence number assignment messages The transmitter dynamically uses the extended header and discontinues use of the extended header after a predefined duration of time or upon receiving an acknowledgment from the receiver.

  • Patent number: 5948274
Abstract: A reconditioning system which withdraws coolant from a machine tool sump, filters solids from the coolant, removes tramp oil from the coolant, kills bacteria in the coolant, and returns the reconditioned coolant to the machine tool sump. The reconditioning system includes a separator tank having a coolant inlet, a coolant outlet, and a coalescer pack located between the coolant inlet and the coolant outlet to separate tramp oil from the coolant. An ozone generator is connected to the separator tank for dissolving ozone into the coolant to kill bacteria, yeast and fungus. An in-sump pickup includes a flexible intake hose connected to the separator tank coolant inlet, a suction nozzle having a generally rigid tube attached near an angled or fluted inlet end of the intake hose, and a ring-shaped float encircling the rigid tube. The float is arranged to provide the required amount of buoyancy necessary to float the suction nozzle near the surface of the coolant in the sump.
