  • Publication number: 20120216891
Abstract: A clamping apparatus is provided for use with a fluid flow device, such as a blood separation system. The clamping apparatus includes a clamp head at least partially defining first and second tube openings each to receive tubing. The clamping apparatus also includes a first actuator coupled to a first flow control member. The first flow control member is configured to be movable via the first actuator relative to the first tube opening to control fluid flow through tubing located in the first tube opening. The clamping apparatus further includes a second actuator coupled to a second flow control member. The second flow control member is movable via the second actuator relative to the second tube opening to control fluid flow through tubing located in the second tube opening.

  • Publication number: 20090084804
Abstract: A single-use, snap-over cap for use primarily in healthcare settings in order to maintain the integrity of a medication solution. The cap has a tapered cylindrical skirt, a puncture resistant lid portion, and one or more latch tabs. When placed onto a flanged injection port such as is found on a conventional fluid container, the latch tabs engage and flex about the port flange. After the cap is placed, the latch tabs engage the port flange to prevent upward axial movement relative to the port, thereby preventing removal of the cap and thus deterring unwanted or erroneous drug administrations or withdrawals.

  • Patent number: 7188750
Abstract: A container assembly includes a container body having a port or aperture adapted for use with a luer end of a needleless syringe. The aperture is sealed to a closure top by a first frangible seal. An overcap has a cap base sealed to the container body and an upper cap connected to the cap base by a second frangible seal, providing a sterile barrier surrounding the first frangible seal. The second frangible seal is broken by depressing the upper cap toward the container body. Alternatively, the second frangible seal is a removable tear strip broken by tugging on the tear strip. The upper cap includes a detent portion frictionally securing the upper cap to the closure top when the upper cap is depressed toward the container body. The upper cap and secured closure top are removed from container body by twisting the upper cap to break the first frangible seal and open the port.
