  • Publication number: 20140320681
Abstract: Several methods, devices and systems for correcting rolling shutter artifacts are described. In one embodiment, an image capturing system includes a rolling shutter image sensor that may cause a rolling shutter artifact (e.g., warping). The system includes a processing system that is configured to perform an automatic rolling shutter correction mechanism that utilizes calibration data based on a relationship between pixel locations in an image plane of the image sensor and their corresponding rays of light in a coordinate space. The rolling shutter mechanism determines pixel velocity components based on the calibration data and estimates for each image an aggregate pixel velocity based on an aggregation of the pixel velocity components.

  • Publication number: 20140182367
Abstract: A wind tunnel device defines a cyclical tunnel to receive continuous airflow. Airflow is delivered through the tunnel to a testing region that includes a first portion carrying an arm including a spray tip configured to spray particulates in the testing region at an angle, and a second portion including an enlarged cutout region configured to receive the angled sprayed particulates. As airflow carries the angled spray particulates into the second portion, the enlarged cutout region enables the spray particulates to pass through and exit the second portion of the testing region. Analysis in the second region may be conducted through transparent walls free of openings to minimize exposure of the spray particulates to the exterior of the device. A scrubber is adapted to extract spray mist from the airflow as the airflow exits the testing region and is re-circulated through the cyclical tunnel.

  • Patent number: 8630443
Abstract: A method automatically detects errors in a container inventory database associated with a container inventory tracking system of a container storage facility. A processor in the inventory tracking system performs a method that: obtains a first data record, identifies an event (e.g., pickup, drop-off, or movement) associated with the first record, provides a list of error types based on the identified event, and determines whether a data error has occurred through a checking process. In each of the checking steps, the processor selects an error type from the list of error types, determines a search criterion based on the selected error type and the first data record, queries the database using the search criterion, compares query results with the first data record to detect data conflicts between them, and upon the detection of the data conflicts, reports that a data error of the selected error type has been detected.

  • Patent number: 8452527
Abstract: A method is provided for automatically locating a container in a stowage location of a container ship for loading and unloading of the container ship in container terminals. The method includes the following steps: obtaining the position information of the container ship from container ship positioning units, obtaining the position information of the container from container positioning units when the container is in its stowage location, and determining the stowage location of the container in the container ship by first computing a relative position of the container in the container ship based on both the position information of the container ship and the position information of the container and then correlating the relative position with a stowage plan of the container ship.

  • Patent number: 8414395
Abstract: A handheld video game system provides a music video game including a guitar simulation. Operation of the handheld video game system is designed to simulate, to a certain extent, the playing of a real guitar. The handheld video game system typically includes a touch sensitive screen, whereby certain actuation and stroke motions made along the surface of the touch sensitive screen are processed by the handheld video game system as simulated guitar strums. Sets of criteria are implemented by the handheld video game system to determine whether a particular stroke motion is processed and registered as a valid strum.

  • Patent number: 8377812
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of fabricating a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor. The method includes the steps of forming a source region on a silicon carbide layer and annealing the source region. A gate oxide layer is formed on the source region and the silicon carbide layer. The method further includes providing a gate electrode on the gate oxide layer and disposing a dielectric layer on the gate electrode and the gate oxide layer. The method further includes etching a portion of the dielectric layer and a portion of the gate oxide layer to form sidewalls on the gate electrode. A metal layer is disposed on the gate electrode, the sidewalls and the source region. The method further includes forming a gate contact and a source contact by subjecting the metal layer to a temperature of at least about 800° C. • Publication number: 20120152413
Abstract: A method by which properties of a component (18) formed of a ductile iron alloy and having thick sections can be promoted with an austempering process. The method entails casting a ductile iron alloy containing iron, carbon, silicon and alloying constituents. The casting is solidified at a rate that inhibits segregation of the alloying constituents to grain boundaries of the casting, and so that the casting contains graphite nodules having a count of greater than 100 nodules per mm2. The casting is then austempered by heating to an austenitization temperature to yield a microstructure having a single-phase matrix of austenite that contains carbon, and then quenching the casting to an austempering temperature. The casting is held at the austempering temperature for a duration sufficient to yield a microstructure whose matrix is mostly ausferrite and essentially free of martensite and pearlite.
