    Abstract: Embodiments of a method performed by wireless device are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method performed by a wireless device comprises receiving, from a wireless access point, information that indicates transmission times of one or more upcoming trigger frames (TFs). The method further comprises performing one or more actions based on the information that indicates the transmission times of the one or more upcoming TFs. In this manner, by knowing the transmission times of the one or more upcoming TFs, the wireless device is able to decide not to contend for the medium when it knows that it can fulfil traffic latency requirements (e.g., transmit uplink data within the required latency limit) by waiting for the upcoming TF(s). Corresponding embodiments of a wireless device are also disclosed. Embodiments of a wireless access point and methods of operation thereof are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed of a transmitter configured to transmit a physical layer packet in accordance with a listen-before-talk procedure. The method includes acquiring an indication of a specific time for channel estimation, providing the physical layer packet with at least one measurement signal for channel estimation based on the specific time, and transmitting the physical layer packet. In some embodiments, the physical layer packet is provided with a plurality of midambles, wherein each midamble includes one or more measurement signals for channel estimation. In some embodiments, the physical layer packet is provided with a floating midamble which comprises one or more measurement signals for channel estimation. A method is also disclosed of a receiver configured to receive a physical layer packet transmitted in accordance with a listen-before-talk procedure.

    Abstract: An access point of a wireless communication system configures a carrier for communication with one or more wireless devices associated with the access point. Based on a backoff counter maintained by the access point, the access point contends for access to the carrier to transmit data. In response to another access point winning contention for access to the carrier, the access point cooperates at least with the access point winning the contention by sharing a transmission opportunity reserved on the carriers by the access point winning the contention and transmitting at least a part of the data in the shared transmission opportunity. During the shared transmission opportunity the access point pauses the backoff counter.

In a transmission opportunity defined by the successful contention procedure, data associated with the successful AC is transmitted on a main layer of the multi-layer transmission simultaneously with data associated with at least one further AC on at least one further layer, which is less robust than the main layer of the multi-layer transmission.

For example, the duration of time may be determined as being equal to the determined maximum required time for clear channel assessment plus an offset. The offset may be equal to zero, or may be equal to a positive value. The method also comprises enforcing, for each packet of the plurality of packets, the determined duration of time to elapse after completion of transmission of the packet, before transmission of a subsequent packet of the plurality of packets is initiated.
