  • Publication number: 20150348569
Abstract: A method, system, and/or computer program product uses speech traits of an entity to predict a future state of the entity. Units of speech are collected from a stream of speech that is generated by a first entity. Tokens from the stream of speech are identified, where each token identifies a particular unit of speech from the stream of speech, and where identification of the tokens is semantic-free. Nodes in a first speech graph are populated with the tokens, and a first shape of the first speech graph is identified. The first shape is matched to a second shape, where the second shape is of a second speech graph from a second entity in a known category. The first entity is assigned to the known category, and a future state of the first entity is predicted based on the first entity being assigned to the known category.

  • Publication number: 20150254569
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for selecting forecasting model complexity using eigenvalues are provided in the illustrative embodiments A process is represented in a model. The model comprises a mathematical representation of the process in a certain degree. A first portion of historical data generated by the process during a first period is selected and includes an actual value of an outcome of the process and a value of a feature influencing the process during the first period. A prediction is made of a predicted value of the outcome. A difference between the prediction and the actual value of the outcome is determined. The difference is represented as a change in a distribution of eigenvalues. According to the change, a second model is to represent the process. The second model comprises a second mathematical representation of the process in a different degree.

  • Publication number: 20140336998
Abstract: Systems and methods for modeling functional magnetic resonance image datasets using a multivariate auto-regressive model which captures temporal dynamics in the data, and creates a reduced representation of the dataset representative of functional connectivity of voxels with respect to brain activity. Raw spatio-temporal data is processed using a multivariate auto-regressive model, wherein coefficients in the model with high weights are retained as indices that best describe the full spatio-temporal data. When there are a relatively small number of temporal samples of the data, sparse regression techniques are used to build the model. The model coefficients are used to perform data processing functions such as indexing, prediction, and classification.

  • Patent number: 8775345
Abstract: A method, information processing system, and computer readable article of manufacture model data. A first dataset is received that includes a first set of physical world data. At least one data model associated with the first dataset is generated based on the receiving. A second dataset is received that includes a second set of physical world data. The second dataset is compared to the at least one data model. A probability that the second dataset is modeled by the at least one data model is determined. A determination is made that the probability is above a given threshold. A decision associated with the second dataset based on the at least one data model is generated in response to the probability being above the given threshold. The probability and the decision are stored in memory. The probability and the decision are provided to user via a user interface.

  • Publication number: 20080071712
Abstract: The present invention provides techniques for transmitting at least one signal through an element of a classification system. One or more input signals are received at the element. One or more functional components are extracted from the one or more input signals, and one or more membership components are extracted from the one or more input signals. An output signal is generated from the element comprising a functional component and a membership component that correspond to one or more functional components and membership components from one or more input signals.

  • Publication number: 20070162505
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for capturing and storing physiological response attributes measured from a user while different stimuli are presented. Each stimulus may be any multimedia object, for example text, picture, or audio/video. The measured physiological response attributes are paired with the input stimulus, and stored conjointly in one or more databases. The physiological response attributes measure an aspect of the user known as emotional valence, and relate to the emotional state of the user, such as angry or sad. The database of physiological responses attributes of multiple users is first established. Then, when the physiological response attributes of a specific user in the future is examined, the system can suggest which objects in the database best correspond. Moreover, the database can be constructed based on the responses of the individual user for their own utilization, and be updated over the course of its continued use.

  • Publication number: 20070124264
Abstract: A system and method for a network to deconvolve mixtures of inputs that have been previously learned. In addition, the network is also able to segment the components of each input object that most contribute to its classification. The network consists of oscillatory units that can comprise amplitude and phase, and that can synchronize their dynamics, so that deconvolution is determined by the amplitude of an output layer, and segmentation by phase similarity between input and output layer units. Moreover, segmentation can be achieved even when there is considerable superposition of the inputs.
