  • Patent number: 8718540
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for enabling frequency selective repetition of signals in a telecommunication system in which aggregation of component carriers is applied. Information signals are received in a first set of frequency bands, which is defined to cover anchor carriers, which can be used by both legacy and non-legacy terminals. Further, information is received in a second set of frequency bands, which is defined to cover non-anchor carriers, which only can be used by non-legacy terminals. Instructions concerning which frequency band(s) that should be repeated by the repeater node, are also received. Thereafter, the frequency bands indicated in the instructions are filtered out, after which these frequency bands or parts are repeated by the repeater node. This results in enabling frequency selective repetition in a system which may comprise legacy mobile, which limits the interference in the system, which enables higher bitrates and saves energy.

  • Publication number: 20140120871
Abstract: Access to a telecommunications network can be controlled according to a policy defined for a plurality of user equipment devices associated with the same user. When two user equipment devices are allowed to operate in parallel under the same subscription, the policy may define a distance between the user equipment devices. When the actual distance between the user equipment devices conforms with the distance defined in the policy, one or more network nodes serving one of the user equipment devices can be assigned to replace a network node serving the other user equipment device to prevent abuse of the end user's subscription or to optimize performance, so as to consolidate service.

  • Patent number: 8688115
Abstract: Access control according to a policy defined for a plurality of electronic devices comprising a cellular modem and associated with the same user If an end user has two electronic devices, such as a fire alarm or an electricity meter, which both have a cellular modem and are allowed to operate in parallel under the same subscription, the end user can abuse this subscription by lending or selling one of the devices to another person. This abuse can be prevented by the present invention in that the network access is controlled according to a policy defined for the plurality of electronic devices operating under the same subscription. In particular, the policy defines a threshold distance between a primary electronic device and each additional electronic device belonging to said plurality of electronic devices operating under the same subscription which specifies the maximum distance from the primary electronic device which still allows to gain access to the network.

  • Publication number: 20140023016
Abstract: This disclosure relates a method and a base station for network sharing using carrier aggregation. The base station of a multi-carrier system comprises a multiple of cells, where each cell corresponds to a carrier that is associated with a PLMN. The base station receives (302, S-424, S-516, S-616) a UE request with information of a UE (402, 502, 602), where a first cell of said multiple of cells corresponds to a first carrier. The base station determines (304, S-428, S-520, S-626) based on base station settings and/or UE information, whether an other carrier associated with a different PLMN is available to said UE. If so, the base station sends (306, S-430, S-440, S-524, S-530) a resource configuration message destined for said UE (402, 502, 602), enabling said UE to configure said other carrier as a SCC. Better coverage, peak rates and capacity, without suffering from the drawbacks of existing RAN sharing techniques, are provided.

  • Patent number: 8588057
Abstract: The teachings presented herein enable a user terminal to perform a fast recovery from a radio link failure. In one aspect, the improvement in recovery time is achieved by commanding or otherwise causing the user terminal to perform radio link failure (RLF) recovery at a cell that is known to possess the user context, while considering that this cell should yield good radio conditions (if not the best) to the user terminal. A cell may be predefined for use by the user terminal in recovering its radio connection. Based on providing signal strength thresholds to the user terminal, for use in determining whether to use a predefined cell for reconnecting to the network, the user terminal attempts RLF recovery first in the predefined cell. By providing user context to the predefined cell in advance of a recovery attempt by the user terminal, the time for recovery is lessened. Note that the user terminal also may infer which cells are preferred.
