  • Patent number: 6513663
Abstract: The invention discloses a method and a device for de-agglomeration and electrostatic charging of a fine powder preferably intended for inhalation purposes. The electrostatic charging takes place by means of tribo, corona and/or inductive charging. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for being able to dose decomposed powder directly into the inspiration air for administering of, for instance, active pharmaceutical substances, alternatively provide a further dosing device with electrostatically charged de-agglomerated powder for an even more controlled dosing of the substance into the inspiration air. De-agglomeration preferably takes place in that two rotating brushes containing powder are touching each other. The bristles are rubbed against each other and thereby decompose the powder agglomerates. The rotation speed of the brushes is suitably optimized to achieve the best possible result for different powder substances.

  • Patent number: 6465187
Abstract: A method of treatment of mast cell mediated inflammatory disorders in mammals comprising regulating the longevity and activity of activated mast cells by inhibiting the expression and/or function of the anti-apoptotic A-1/bfl-1 gene or gene product. The invention also provides the development and use of a compound capable of inhibiting the expression and/or function of the anti-apoptotic A-1/bfl-1 gene or gene product for the manufacture of a medicament for treating mast cell mediated inflammation in human tissues by regulating the longevity and activity of activated mast cells.

  • Publication number: 20020144680
Abstract: An inhaler device and a method are disclosed in which powder for inhalation is jetted off a prepared device surface containing a defined pre-metered quantity of finely divided powder. The jetting function is obtained by a directed air stream (16) having the characteristic of an air jet pushing or cutting free a medical powder applied to a carrier surface (10) and by creating a stream of air dispersing the powder into a the inspiratory air (3) at the moment it is being inhaled. An inhaler device utilizing the present method is preferably further provided with active (air permeable) porous walls (4) for further preventing finely divided powder from sticking to the inner faces of the inhaler device by creating a pressure gradient across the active wall, thus forcing a small flow of air through the active wall thereby keeping the powder from sticking to the inner faces (4).

  • Publication number: 20020027318
Abstract: A locking device in a stapler is adapted to lock a member displaceable along a bar in an optional displacement position, said member carrying a catch for the object to be stapled. The locking device has a locking element connected to the displaceable member and displaceable together with the same, said locking elements having a through hole, through which the bar extends. The hole is designed such that the locking element is tiltable along the bar between a front position, pinch position, in which the locking element portion defining the hole engages the bar and pinches the locking element thereto, and a rear position, free position, in which this hole-defining portion goes clear of the bar. The locking element is spring biased towards its pinch position.

  • Patent number: 6317959
Abstract: An apparatus and process are provided for filling a passage between first and second elements with fiber insulation material. The apparatus comprises a support, an exhaust box rotatably mounted on the support and having an inner cavity and a fixture, a device effecting rotation of the exhaust box, and first and second elements. The first element has an outer surface and the second element has an inner surface. The second element is positioned relative to the first element such that the first and second elements define therebetween the passage which is filled with fiber insulation material. At least one of the first and second elements is perforated. The apparatus further includes at least one filling nozzle adapted to supply fiber insulation material to the passage and a vacuum source adapted to draw a partial vacuum in the exhaust box inner cavity while the fiber insulation material is supplied to the passage.

  • Patent number: 6089227
Abstract: An inhaler for electrical dosing of pure substances or preparates consisting of chemical and biological substances mainly used as drugs. The inhaler, which comprises a microprocessor thereby offers a flexible and measurable dose for the chemical and biological substances in the form of powders, or in the form of small drops or aerosols. The dosing is done electrically via first field generating member (23) whereby the substance is transmitted to a transmitting member which attracts the substance, from which the substance is then emitted by influence from another electrical field generated by a second field generating member (32), and the substance is finally mixed with air which is conventionally inhaled.

  • Patent number: 5960931
Abstract: A tree-trunk feed roller of a log harvesting unit includes a mantle for engaging the tree trunk, arranged in one piece around a body. In the space radially provided between these elements, one set of dogging elements is mounted on the mantle, and another set is mounted on the body, such that dogging elements of the respective sets alternate. Resilient elements are engaged between each two dogging elements from the opposite sets, such that the dogging elements and resilient elements are arranged to transmit radial and peripheral forces acting between the body and the mantle.

  • Patent number: 5660169
Abstract: The invention relates to a disposable breath-actuated inhaler comprising a housing forming an air flow path open at both ends, wherein one end forms an air inlet and one end forms an air outlet. The housing includes a compartment for storing a pharmaceutical powder to be inhaled which is located close to the air inlet and covered by a thin foil which seals the compartment in an airtight way. The foil can be removed from the compartment from outside the housing. Additionally, the housing has a constriction adjacent the powder compartment such that a turbulent air stream will be obtained at the constriction upon inhalation which will lift the powder out from the compartment and mix the powder into the air stream.
