  • Patent number: 4213438
Abstract: A piston for internal combustion engines, especially Diesel engines, with a combustion chamber arranged in the piston head which latter is preferably designed as a ring carrier and is supported by a mantle connecting the ring carrier with the foot portion of the piston. The mantle partially surrounds the combustion chamber, and thermal insulation material or the like is provided between the mantle and the combustion chamber at least within the region of the combustion chamber opening. In addition to the just mentioned thermal insulation material, there are additional thermal insulation provisions made on the mantle between the latter and the ring carrier and/or the foot portion of the piston. The piston and the cylinder therefor are so designed with regard to each other that the piston engages the cylinder over a section located between the plane of the combustion chamber opening and an adjacent piston ring carried by the ring carrier.

  • Patent number: 4207808
Abstract: An improved piston structure for Diesel and like reciprocating piston engines is provided having a top and foot, a sealing section on said piston connecting said top and foot, a guide section articulatedly connected to said sealing section through trunnion means on a connecting rod, said guide section having a sliding shell in the form of a collar at its periphery surrounding a wrist pin in the region of its bearing points, and at least one rib for each bearing side in the form of a chord connected to said shell in the region of the bearing point.

  • Patent number: 4129108
Abstract: A piston for internal combustion engines, especially Diesel engines, which is equipped with a mantle connecting the piston head with the piston foot and which by means of this foot is pivotally connected to a gudgeon pin bearing of a connecting rod. Within the region of the gudgeon pin bearing there is provided at least one guiding surface for a coolant and/or lubricant sprayed from a crankcase chamber of the internal combustion engine against the piston. The coolant and/or lubricant are directed relative to the gudgeon pin bearing in such a way that the coolant and/or the lubricant carry out a flow around the gudgeon pin bearing while simultaneously flowing against the foot of the piston as well as against the gudgeon pin bearing.

  • Patent number: 4103663
Abstract: A cylinder head for internal combustion engines, especially Diesel engines, with at least one opening for a passage forming an inlet or outlet and leading to a combustion chamber. This opening which is adapted to be closed and opened by a valve is on that side thereof which faces in the direction toward the combustion chamber, provided with a valve seat ring fastened in the opening of the passage. Each valve seat ring is to its major extent conical with the basis of the cone pointing toward the combustion chamber while only that end of the valve seat ring which faces away from the combustion chamber is in a projecting manner fastened to the cylinder head.

  • Patent number: 4015577
Abstract: A reciprocable piston internal combustion engine, especially diesel engine, with an air guiding passage leading to a combustion chamber for combustion air to be conveyed by the air feeding passage. The air feeding passage is provided with twist-forming elements. Also means are provided for controlling air injection and are actuated dependent upon load or smoke with the opening cross section of the air feeding passage being variable within predetermined limits. The oxygen supply is kept low during the combustion of the air with the fuel in the center of the combustion chamber during all load ranges of the internal combustion engine. Combustion air which is rich in oxygen and stays close to the wall of the combustion chamber is affected by the radially progressing combustion only when the temperature in the combustion chamber or cylinder starts dropping in view of the expansion of the air-fuel mixture.

  • Patent number: 3945363
Abstract: A reciprocable piston internal combustion engine provided with twist forming passage means, especially in the intake system of the engine, which passage means for imparting a desired twist upon a gaseous medium passing through the twist forming passage means is curved in conformity with the desired twist and has at least one shut-off valve in a cylinder head and also comprises a helical section and an S-shaped curved section adjacent thereto while at least one end point of the curved section is located on or within the range of a cross-sectional plane of the passage means and the helix axis of the helical section is arranged on or within the range of the cross-sectional plane extending transverse to and intersecting the cylinder axis but located eccentrically with regard to the valve axis, and while that end of the helical section which faces toward the cylinder chamber leads into a cylindrical valve opening passage, the cross section of the helical section from its inlet to the valve opening passage having a

  • Patent number: 3945349
Abstract: An air conveying system, especially in the air intake system, for a reciprocable piston internal combustion engine having at least one group of cylinders and valve seats respectively associated therewith which valve seats have an opening toward the cylinders, according to which a plurality of tap lines respectively connected to the cylinders of the group of cylinders lead to the pertaining valve seat openings and communicate with a collecting conduit which is common to all of the tap lines pertaining to one and the same group of cylinders while having at least approximately the same length. Twist forming means are respectively arranged within the range of the valve seat openings for imparting a twist upon the air masses to be passed through the valve seat openings. The cross section of the tap lines and of the respective common collecting conduit pertaining thereto increase gradually in a steady manner from the pertaining valve seat openings in the direction away therefrom.
