  • Patent number: 6953335
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing nitrogen dioxide emissions in a flueless heating appliance or heater includes a heat-exchanger for exchanging heat contained in fumes produced by the combustion of a fuel in the heating appliance. A heating appliance or heater without a fume flue includes a burner supplied with a gaseous fuel, an evacuator for discharging into an environment outside the heater fumes produced by combustion of the fuel, and a heat-exchanger for receiving the fumes from the burner and sending them to the evacuator. A method for reducing nitrogen dioxide emissions in a flueless heating appliance, supplied with a gaseous fuel, includes removing heat in a controlled manner from fumes produced by the combustion of the fuel so as to minimize the conversion of NO into NO2 in the fumes.

  • Publication number: 20050051154
Abstract: An apparatus for reducing nitrogen dioxide emissions in a flueless heating appliance comprises heat-exchanger means suitable for being crossed by the fumes produced by the combustion of a fuel in said heating appliance. A heating appliance without a fume flue comprises burner means supplied with a gaseous fuel, evacuation means for discharging into the outside environment fumes produced by the combustion of said fuel and heat-exchanger means suitable for receiving said fumes from said burner means and sending them to said evacuation means. A method for reducing nitrogen dioxide emissions in a flueless heating appliance, supplied with a gaseous fuel, comprises removing heat in a controlled manner from fumes produced by the combustion of said fuel so as to minimize the conversion of NO into NO2 in said fumes.

  • Publication number: 20040018463
Abstract: A system for feeding a plurality of burners (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, 2n) includes a manifold (1) into which a flow of gaseous fuel is introduced via an inlet duct (5), said manifold (1) including an hollow body (3) provided with a plurality of outlets (6) each of which can be connected to a respective burner (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, 2n), said manifold (1) further comprises distributing means (4) for selectively distributing said fuel to said burners (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, 2n), said distributing means (7) being provided with connecting means (8) with one or more of said outlets (6).

  • Publication number: 20030198908
Abstract: An atmospheric burner unit for use in an unvented gas log heater has a base and a gas distribution valve supported by the base. The valve has an inlet opening and a number of outlet openings. A plurality of burner elements are mounted by the base. Each of the burner elements has an inlet port and a plurality of outlet ports. The inlet port of each burner element is in proximate spaced relationship with an outlet opening of the gas distribution valve thereby defining open spaces through which gas may flow from the distribution valve to the burner elements thus obviating the use of tubes or other conduits.

  • Patent number: 6062211
Abstract: An artificial gas log set which simulates in a very realistic fashion a log fire in a fireplace. The artificial log set comprises a log, a burner tube having ports for creating a yellow flame that is in close proximity to the log and a second set of ports for creating a blue flame which is positioned between the yellow flame and the log. The blue flame impinges on the log and acts as a separator or curtain that prevents impingement by the yellow flame on the log. This prevents the creation of unwanted and dangerous levels of emissions such as oxides of carbon and nitrogen. An alternative embodiment replaces the blue flame and its ports with duct work and exhaust gases. The exhaust gases act as a separator between the log and the yellow flame. The result is a realistic looking, simulated wood burning fireplace which may be safely used in an unvented environment.
