  • Patent number: 11745683
Abstract: A method for detecting a direction of a collision of a vehicle. The method includes a comparing step, in which a first acceleration signal is compared to two threshold values, in order to determine a first collision direction signal indicating a direction of the collision, and in which a second acceleration signal is compared to a further threshold value, in order to determine a further collision direction signal indicating a direction of the collision. The second acceleration signal represents the acceleration of the vehicle subjected to smoothing. In the determining step, using the first collision direction signal and the further collision direction signal, a result signal is determined, which indicates the direction indicated by the first collision direction signal and by the further collision direction signal as an actual collision direction.

  • Patent number: 11648900
Abstract: Detecting off-zone crashes involving a vehicle using lateral acceleration values detected at locations within the vehicle. In one example method, an electronic processor receives a first acceleration value at a centerline of the vehicle from a first acceleration sensor of at least two acceleration sensors. The electronic processor also receives a second acceleration value at the centerline of the vehicle from a second acceleration sensor of the at least two acceleration sensors. The method also includes deriving, with the electronic processor, an approximate yaw acceleration at the centerline of the vehicle based on the first acceleration value and the second acceleration value. The method also includes comparing, with the electronic processor, the approximate yaw acceleration to a threshold and initiating, with the electronic processor, one or more actions in response to the yaw acceleration exceeding the threshold.

  • Patent number: 10414368
Abstract: A method for determining an impact location of an object on a vehicle including reading in a first sensor signal value of a first sensor of the vehicle at a predefined first point in time, a second sensor signal value of the first sensor at a predefined second point in time following the first point in time, and a sample value of a second sensor of the vehicle at a third point in time following the second point in time. Additionally, an interpolation point is calculated from the first sensor signal value and the second sensor signal value by using the sample value, at least one component of the interpolation point corresponding to the sample value. A time lag between an interpolation instant assigned to the interpolation point, and the third point in time takes place. Finally, the time lag is used for determining the impact location of the object.
