  • Publication number: 20020110081
Abstract: An optical information medium (20) for erasable recording by means of a laser-light beam (10) is provided. A substrate (1) holds a stack (2) of layers with a phase-change recording layer (5) between a first dielectric layer (4) and a second dielectric layer (6). A light-absorptive layer (7) is present proximate the recording layer (5) and is made of a compound of the formula QRx, in which Q is the element Si, Ge, Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb or Ta, R is the element O or N, and 0<x≦2.5, in order to achieve that 0.8<Ac/Aa<1.50, in which Ac and Aa are the respective quantities of laser-light absorbed in the recording layer (5) in the crystalline state and the amorphous state at a laser-light wavelength selected from a range of 350-450 nm. Thus high data rates and low data jitters are achieved at this short wavelength range by tuning x to an optimal value during manufacture of the optical information medium.

  • Publication number: 20010018622
Abstract: It is made possible to promptly determine an accurate parting line. Two-dimensional projection means produces two-dimensional projection data by projecting edges of a product shape represented by three-dimensional graphic data onto a plane perpendicular to a mold opening direction. Parting line determination means sequentially determines, out of candidate edges contiguous to a determined parting line already determined as parting line, a candidate edge forming a largest interior angle with the determined parting line at a contact point therewith on the two-dimensional projection data, as the parting line. This makes it possible to determine a parting line of a mold for molding the product shape represented by the three-dimensional graphic data.

  • Patent number: 6159573
Abstract: A description is given of a rewritable optical information medium having an IPIAIM stack comprising a phase-change recording layer sandwiched between two dielectric layers, a light-absorbing layer of a material like Si, Ge, Mo, or W, a third dielectric layer, and a metal mirror layer. The light-absorbing layer reduces the difference in light absorption between the amorphous state and the crystalline state to a minimum, thus reducing the recording mark distortion. The presence of the light-absorbing layer in this position ensures that the optical phase difference between the amorphous and the crystalline state is almost zero, making the medium suitable for land-groove recording.

  • Patent number: 5521475
Abstract: An electric power steering apparatus in which the steering force of a steering wheel is assisted by an electric motor is disclosed. The number of revolution of the electric motor is detected, and the counter electromotive force of the electric motor is calculated on the basis of the detected number of revolution. A voltage which is to be applied to the electric motor and corresponds to the driving current instruction value determined in accordance with the steering torque is corrected on the basis of the calculated counter electromotive force. In the electric power steering apparatus, the period of the detection of the number of revolution of the electric motor is made longer than the period of the feedback control of the driving current of the electric motor, and the period of the feedback control of the driving current of the electric motor is synchronized with the period of the correction of the voltage to be applied.

  • Patent number: 5361210
Abstract: In an electric power steering apparatus using a direct drive electric motor for assisting steering force, the electric motor is operated with three-phase alternating current obtained from a direct-current power supply through an inverter, the three-phase alternating current being controlled by detecting the value of the direct current being supplied to the inverter. The difference between the detected direct current and a target current calculated on the basis of detected vehicle speed and steering torque is determined, based on which the three-phase alternating current is controlled.
