  • Publication number: 20210092690
Abstract: A wireless device that indicates multiple power classes to a network node, a network node that uses the indicated multiple power classes, and related methods of operation for the wireless device and the network node are disclosed. The disclosed embodiments aim at an increase flexibility in setting different power classes in different communication scenarios while reducing signalling overhead for capability signalling for the wireless device. This is achieved by using at least one set of power classes defining at least two power classes of the wireless device. Each set of power classes applies to a transmission band (A, B, C) supported by the wireless device and each power class in each set of power classes applies to a specific operative condition of the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20210092787
Abstract: In one aspect, a wireless device (50) configured for multi-carrier operation in a wireless communication network performs (702) measurements on one or more cells and/or beams and/or carriers, while in idle mode or in an inactive state. The wireless device determines (704) information for assisting an establishment of multi-carrier operation, based on the measurements, and transmits (706) the information to the wireless communication network. A network node receives this information for the cells/PERFORM beams/carriers and selects, based on the received information, one or more cells/beams/carriers for multi-carrier operation with the wireless device. The network node establishes multi-carrier operation for the wireless device using the selected cells/beams/or carriers.

  • Patent number: 10715286
Abstract: An inventive UE carrier aggregation (CA) capability reporting signalling model allows UEs (30) aggregating large numbers of component carriers to transmit CA-relevant capabilities to the network more efficiently than the current (legacy) signalling model. Rather than reporting CA/MIMO/CSI/NAICS capabilities separately for each supported band combination, including fallback configurations, embodiments of the present invention either report UE Radio Frequency (RF) and Baseband (BB) related capabilities separately, or report them disassociated from CA band configurations. This approach avoids the need to signal the full UE (30) set of capabilities for each of (possibly many) supported band combinations. Furthermore, fallback capabilities are signalled implicitly, eliminating the need to transmit this data.

  • Patent number: 10004078
Abstract: A network node (600), a wireless device (602) and methods for controlling a radio communication using carrier aggregation. The wireless device (602) sends (6:1) UE capabilities to the network node (600), indicating a maximum capability limit per component carrier and a total maximum capability limit across all component carriers to be used in the radio communication. The network node (600) further selects (6:2) a number of component carriers to be used by the wireless device, and configures (6:3) radio features on the selected component carriers based on the received UE capabilities. The network node (600) then signals (6:4) the selected number of component carriers and the configured radio features to the wireless device (602) for use in the radio communication (6:5). Thereby, the network node (600) can utilize the full capabilities of the wireless device (602) when configuring the radio features while still respecting both the maximum capability limit per carrier and the total maximum capability limit.

  • Publication number: 20180049024
Abstract: In one aspect, a network node determines there is a loss of user context information for one or more user equipments and signals to radio base stations connected to the network node to notify the one or more user equipments of the loss of user context information in broadcast system information. A radio base station transmits an information element indicating the loss of user context information in broadcast system information. A user equipment receives the information element in broadcast system information and detaches and reattaches to the network node upon a determination that the network node indicated by the information element matches a network node in registration information stored at the user equipment.

  • Patent number: 9693239
Abstract: Unsynchronized internal clocks of user equipments in a cellular communication system are addressed by a mechanism relying on a standalone clock function in user equipments. A network node distributes a time reference to a user equipment (UE), and the UE, using an internal clock function, time-stamps the logged measurements and/or events relative to the received time reference. When the UE has logged measurements, the UE indicates to the network node that it has an available measurement log. The network node may then request several UEs to deliver their respective measurement logs. The network node is then able to retrieve time-stamped measurement information from the measurement log of each UE relative to the sent time reference. The network node is then able to compare measurement information from each UE in a cell provided at the same time interval in all UEs.
