  • Patent number: 7312929
Abstract: The invention provides a variable focus liquid lens using electrowetting, comprising a conductive first liquid and an insulating second liquid. At least one of the first liquid composed of electrolyte and the second liquid composed of insulating liquid contains a surfactant for reducing interfacial energy between the first and second liquids. An interfacial portion between the first and second liquids is gathered by surfactant to reduce driving voltage. The variable focus liquid lens according to the invention has about 50% lower driving voltage required for changing focus, ensuring stability of the two fluids.

  • Publication number: 20070217023
Abstract: A liquid lens comprises a cylindrical body having a pair of glass lenses which are coupled to upper and lower openings of the body, respectively; an aspheric transmitting partition lens inserted and fixed in the central portion of the body; an auto-focus lens section composed of a first insulating liquid layer and a first electrolyte layer which are filled under the transmitting partition lens so as to form an interface therebetween; an optical zoom lens section composed of a second insulating liquid layer and a second electrolyte layer which are filled above the transmitting partition lens so as to form an interface therebetween; and a minute auto-focus lens section composed of a third insulating liquid layer of which the upper surface comes in contact with the lower surface of the transmitting partition lens and of which the lower surface forms an interface with the first electrolyte layer such that the third insulating liquid layer is not mixed with the first electrolyte layer.

  • Publication number: 20070199454
Abstract: Silicone oil used for an insulating solution for a liquid lens is disclosed which satisfies all of the requirements, i.e., density, viscosity, surface tension and refractive index, required as an insulating liquid for a liquid lens. The silicone oil includes at least one selected from compounds represented by Formulas 1 to 3 below: wherein R1 to R6 are same or different each other; and are independently selected from the group consisting of phenyl being replaced by alkyl or halo in ortho, meta or para position, silanol, alkyl and alkoxy each having a molecular weight of 200 or less.

  • Patent number: 4903514
Abstract: A combined nail clipper and key holder which comprises a nail clipper housing including a hollow portion provided with a pair of lateral grooves disposed on opposite walls of the housing, the nail clipper housing further including an aperture disposed at the rear end and a key ring connecting member rotatably attached to the front end thereof, a nail clipper having a pair of laterally extending locking pins, the nail clipper being rotatably mounted to the rear end of the nail clipper housing by an end pin which extends into the aperture whereby the nail clipper is rotatable between an inoperative portion where the nail clipper is held in its housing by the functional engagement between the lateral grooves and lateral locking pins and an operative position where the nail clipper is rotated out of the housing about the end pin.
