    Abstract: Provided are apparatuses and methods for determining a logical channel for transmission of a data packet in a network. A logical channel may provide a corresponding Quality of Service (QoS). Data traffic may be identified based on class of service (CoS) and each CoS may be handled through a default QoS configuration, for example. A logical channel may be associated with or preconfigured with a designated default QoS configuration such that transmission of data on the logical channel may be available without prior QoS negotiation or setup signaling. In one example, the selection of the logical channel may be based on a Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) marked in the data packet.

    Abstract: Sequence numbers for data packets to be transmitted using bearers having bearer identifiers in a communications system are generated, wherein the sequence numbers are generated independently for each of the bearers used for transmitting the data packets. Last generated sequence numbers for each of the bearers identifiers are stored and held in a memory. When a sequence number for a data packet to be transmitted using a bearer out of the bearers which has been used before is to be generated the memory is checked on a last generated sequence number for the bearer with a previously used bearer identifier and the sequence number is generated in accordance therewith.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and network device for selecting a combining point at which at least two redundant transmission paths are combined to a single transmission path in a transmission network comprising at least two selectable combining points (B-J). The combining point is selected by a method using at least two measurement-based selection criteria to which different priorities are allocated. The selection result of a selection criterion with a higher priority is used as a constraint for a selection based on a selection criterion with a lower priority. The selection criteria are applied to lengths or loads of the redundant transmission paths or the single transmission path. Thereby, an optimized combining point can be obtained to thereby lower delays for combined traffic and increase efficiency of network utilization.
