    Abstract: A Fresnel liquid crystal lens structure includes a first substrate and a second substrate arranged oppositely, a first electrode, a second electrode, and a liquid crystal layer located therebetween, wherein the first electrode is a plate-shaped electrode, the second electrode includes concentric ring electrodes; concentric ring electrodes are divided into electrode groups in a first direction to divide the formed Fresnel liquid crystal lens into lens regions; each electrode group is divided into sub-electrode groups arranged periodically in a first direction to divide each lens region into sub-lens regions arranged periodically; and each sub-electrode group includes electrodes to form a sub-lens region having a step shape and the quantity of electrodes in a sub-electrode group within a different electrode set is different. A display device including the Fresnel liquid crystal lens structure and a method for driving a Fresnel liquid crystal lens are also provided.

    Abstract: A process and apparatus for managing hydrogen sulfide in a refinery is provided. In the process, a hydrogen sulfide stream from said refinery is fed to a sulfur recovery unit to produce sulfur and a sulfur compound stream or to a thermal oxidizer. The sulfur compound stream and the hydrogen sulfide stream are then thermally oxidized to produce a sulfur oxide stream. The sulfur oxide stream is then reacted with an ammonia stream. In aspect, the product of the reaction can be a fertilizer. The ammonia stream can be obtained from stripping the hydrogen sulfide stream.

    Abstract: Various embodiments provide for the implementation of volumetric diffractive optics equivalent functionality via cascaded planar elements. To illustrate the principle, a design 3D diffractive optics and implement a two-layer continuous phase-only design on a single spatial light modulator (SLM) with a folded system. The system provides dynamic and efficient multiplexing capability. Numerical and experimental results show this approach improves system performance such as diffraction efficiency, spatial/spectral selectivity, and number of multiplexing functions relative to 2D devices while providing dynamic large space-bandwidth relative to current static volume diffractive optics. The limitations and capabilities of dynamic 3D diffractive optics are discussed.
