  • Publication number: 20030190842
Abstract: A terminal fitting (10) has a main body (11) and stabilizer (17) for preventing upside-down insertion stands up from a surface of the main body (11). Elongated projections (50) extend from a surface of the main body (11) opposite the stabilizer (17). If the male terminal fitting (10) is inserted upside down, the elongated projections (50) contact a bottom wall (24B) at the entrance of a cavity (24) during the insertion to shift the male terminal fitting (10) transversely. Thus, the stabilizer (17) is caught deeply by a ceiling wall (24C) at the entrance. As a result, the male terminal fitting (10) is prevented from any further insertion.

  • Patent number: 6623313
Abstract: A connector has a housing (10) with cavities (11) into which terminal fittings (30) are insertable. Locks (13) in the housing (10) deform during insertion of the terminal fittings (30) into the cavities (11), but then resiliently restore to lock the terminal fittings (30) in the cavities (11). Lowered portions (12a) of a bottom wall (12) of the housing (10) face the locks (12) and prevent the locks (13) from being excessively deformed. The bottom surface of each lock (13) has a convex arcuate surface (13c) and each lowered portion (12a) of the bottom wall (12) has a recess (12b) substantially conforming to the convex arcuate surface (13c) to accommodate the convex arcuate surface (13c) when the lock (13) deforms.

  • Publication number: 20030176114
Abstract: A connector has a housing (1) and retainer mount hole (8) is open in the housing (1) from its bottom surface over to its opposite side surfaces. Upon being moved from a partial locking position to a full locking position, A retainer (7) can be moved from a partial locking position to a full locking position and is guided obliquely forward by guides (22-25). Thus, the retainer (7) can be constantly guided to a specified position regardless of a variation in the fitted position of the retainer (7) in the retainer mount hole (8) along forward and backward directions. Since the retainer (7) and terminal fittings (4) can constantly have a proper positional relationship, a problem of a varying function of the retainer (7) to detect the insufficiently inserted states of the terminal fittings (4) due to a variation in the fitted position of the retainer (7) can be solved.

  • Publication number: 20030157835
Abstract: A connector has a housing (20) with cavities (25) for receiving terminal fittings (10). A resiliently deformable lock (30) extends along a wall (25A) of each cavity (25) and is configured for locking the terminal fitting in the cavity (25). An elongated projection (31) is formed at a widthwise center position of the upper surface of each lock (30) and an escaping groove (34) is formed in the wall (25A) of each cavity (25) for receiving the elongated projection (31) when the lock (30) deforms. The elongated projection (31) reinforces the lock (30) and provides a large engaging area with the terminal fitting (10). Additionally, the escaping groove (34) provides a necessary a deformation permitting space (35) for the thicker lock (30) without increasing the height of the housing (20).

  • Patent number: 6607407
Abstract: A connector including a connector housing with a retainer attachment hole that receives and stabilizes a retainer as it is inserted into the connector housing. The retainer attachment hole extends into an anterior face of the connector housing. Male terminal fittings inserted into the connector housing are maintained therein by a removal preventing member of the retainer that is inserted into the retainer attachment hole. Guiding members formed on the retainer enter the retainer attachment hole before the removal preventing member enters therein. Consequently, the retainer is stabilized and maintained in position relative to the connector housing while it is being attached to the retainer attachment hole.

  • Patent number: 6589083
Abstract: A connector housing (10) has cavities (23) and a retainer insertion hole (27) that crosses the cavities (23). A retainer (30) can be held at a partial or full locking position in the retainer insertion hole (27). The retainer (30) has pairs of resilient locks (33) and fixed locks (35) for the corresponding cavities (23). The resilient locks (33) project into the cavities (23) when the retainer (30) is at the partial locking position while the fixed locks (35) project into the cavities,(23) when the retainer (30) is at the full locking position. The resilient locks (33) are wider than the cavities (23) and hence continue engaging the terminal fittings (10) while the retainer (30) is moved from the partial locking position to the full locking position. Thus, the terminal fittings (10) are locked doubly by the fixed locks (33) and parts of the resilient locks (33) when the retainer (30) is at the full locking position.

  • Patent number: 6398571
Abstract: A rubber stopper is provided at a rear end of a housing. A receiving tool-insertion opening is formed on a bottom surface of a cavity of the housing such that the receiving tool-insertion opening is located immediately forward from the rubber stopper. A receiving portion is projectingly formed on a lower part of a pressure die. When the housing accommodating a pressure-connection terminal is placed on the lower part, the receiving portion projects upward through the receiving tool-insertion opening, and the apex of a mountain portion is located in the vicinity of an insertion hole of the rubber stopper. When a pressure tool installed on an upper part of the pressure die moves downward, a front end of an electric wire is pressed against and connected with a pressure blade. As a result, the electric wire projecting from the rubber stopper is stretched downward. In this case, a root portion of the electric wire is received with the receiving portion.
