  • Patent number: 5395258
Abstract: A connector includes lever pivotally mounted on a lateral wall of a male connector housing. When a female connector housing is inserted into the male connector housing, a cam follower projection formed on a cover is engaged with a cam groove formed on the lever. The lever is formed of four split pieces: a base plate, a second split piece, a third split piece, and an operating strip. For connecting or disconnecting the connectors, the lever can be expanded to maximize leverage. For storage, the lever can be contracted to minimize the amount of space occupied.

  • Patent number: 5351973
Abstract: A cylindrically-shaped rubber seal is connected to a crimped wire terminal inserted to a connector member to effectively seal the terminal housing, or is connected to the fitting members of mating connectors to effectively seal the fitting members. The rubber seal is made of a rubber filled with reinforcing fibers oriented in the axial direction of the rubber seal to impart anisotropy to the strength of the rubber, so that the strength of the axial direction is greater than the strength in the vertical direction perpendicular to the axial direction and flexibility is maintained in the vertical directions. The rubber seal is also used as a connector seal to seal the mating members of mating male-female connectors. When the rubber seal is used in the chamber of female connector, the rubber seal can firmly receive the male connector without deformation in the insertion direction.

  • Patent number: 5326287
Abstract: A connector includes the connector housing and the retainer for securing the terminals in the terminal housings formed in the connector housing. A retainer insertion space enabling insertion of the retainer from either right or left side is formed continuously through and intersecting all of the terminal housings. The retainer insertion space is formed by a channel open through from the front almost to the back of the connector housing, and by a channel open through from the back almost to the front of the connector housing. Locking members formed on the retainer engage and hold the terminals inserted to the terminal housings when the retainer is fully inserted in the connector housing together with the engagement between the recess formed in the terminal and the lance provided in the terminal housing.

  • Patent number: 5322383
Abstract: A lever type connector which includes a set of a female connector part and a male connector part to be fitted to each other, and a lever member pivotally journalled on the female connector part. For temporarily stopping the female connector part and the male connector part in place, temporary stopper recesses of the female connector part and temporary stopper projections of the male connector part are engaged with each other. Therefore, it is not necessary to expand the lever member by depression, with guide pins of the male connector part. Thus, combining and releasing of the connector parts are simplified for quick operation.

  • Patent number: 5279506
Abstract: A connector with a lever for reducing the force required for connection between the first and second interlocking connectors. The second connector includes a freely-pivoting lever with a pair of connector guide holes. The first connector includes a pair of guide pins. A connector box secured at any given location includes a connector cavity, with an opening on the mating member side, for the first and second connectors. Guide rails are provided in the connector box housing for guiding the first and second connectors. A lever guide is further provided in the housing for guiding the lever according to the movement of second connector. When the first connector member is pressed against the second connector member housed in the housing, the guide holes engage with the guide pins and the force pulls the first connector member to the second connector member according to the moving position of thereof.

  • Patent number: 5135410
Abstract: A connector assembly comprises first and second connector housings having first and second terminal elements, respectively, adapted to be electrically connected with each other when the first and second connector housings are completely coupled with each other. The first housing has a pair of engagement pins on respective sides thereof while a lock handle having a pair of arms is mounted on the second housing for rotation between release and locked position. A free end portion of each of the arms is formed with a generally arcuate guide path along which the associated engagement pin slides, as the lock handle is rotated from the release position towards the locked position, so that the first housing can be positively drawn close towards the second housing thereby to connect the first and second terminal elements together. The arcuate guide path defined in each of the arms is delimited by long and short cam edges opposite to each other and between leading and trailing ends thereof.

  • Patent number: 5112246
Abstract: The fittingly locked state of a connector in which a fitted posture is locked by a lock arm of one of two connector housings when the lock arm is brought into engagement with a locking portion of the other connector housing is detected through a method wherein a pressure sensing switch element is mounted on the other connector housing in such a manner as to face the underside of the lock arm in fitted posture. A pair of electricity conducting plates of the pressure sensing switch element are connected to electricity conducting cords drawn from the connector housings via detecting terminals. The pressure sensing switch is switched on when the pressure sensing switch is pressed down by the lock arm, whereby a relative electrical communication is established between the electricity conducting cords, thereby making it possible to detect a proper locked state of the connector housings.
