  • Patent number: 4105531
Abstract: A highly conductive and corrosion resistant low hydrogen overvoltage cathode. The cathode comprises a copper substrate plated with an alloy of nickel, vanadium, and molybdenum.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 1, 1977
Date of Patent: August 8, 1978
    Assignee: Olin Corporation
Inventors: Han C. Kuo, Ronald L. Dotson, Kenneth E. Woodard, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4055475
Abstract: The electrolysis of alkali metal chloride solutions in a diaphragm cell having an anode compartment separated from a cathode compartment by a porous perfluorosulfonic acid resin diaphragm is optimized by maintaining the pH of the alkali metal chloride solution in the range of from about 3.0 to about 5.0. In this pH range, highly desirable bulk flow properties are obtained by controlling the dimensional stability of the perfluorosulfonic acid resin.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 24, 1976
Date of Patent: October 25, 1977
    Assignee: Olin Corporation
Inventors: Ronald L. Dotson, David D. Justice, Han C. Kuo
