  • Patent number: 10720984
Abstract: A method for receiving data, by an end-STA from a root AP, may comprise receiving, from a relay AP, a first beacon frame comprising a relay information element. The relay information element may include a field which indicates whether a root AP BSSID field indicating a BSSID of the root AP is included in the beacon frame. The end-STA may transmit an association request to the relay AP and may receive an association response from the relay AP if the relay AP is allowed by the root AP to associate with the end-STA. The end-STA may receive, from the relay AP, traffic indication map (TIM) indications, of which at least one of the TIM indications may be for the end-STA. The one of the TIM indications may indicate that the data is available for the end-STA. The end-STA may then receive the data from the relay AP.

  • Publication number: 20200221388
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein for determining a transmit power based on clear channel assessment (CCA) thresholds. A station (STA) associated with a first Basic Service Set (BSS) may receive, from an access point (AP) associated with the first BSS, a clear channel assessment (CCA) value for a group of STAs associated with a second BSS. The CCA value may indicate a minimum CCA threshold for a packet received from the second BSS. The STA may then determine, based on the CCA value, a STA specific CCA parameter and a target CCA parameter. The target CCA parameter may be greater than or equal to the STA specific CCA parameter. Based on the STA specific CCA parameter and the target CCA parameter, the STA may determine a target transmit power control (TPC) parameter of the STA, wherein the sum of target TPC parameter and target CCA parameter is constant.

  • Publication number: 20200220607
Abstract: Presently disclosed are systems and methods for beamforming training in WLANs. In various embodiments, there are unified MIMO beamforming training procedure, which includes a training period in which an initiator transmits multiple unified training frames for performing a transmit-beamforming training of the initiator and a receive-beamforming training of one or more responders; a feedback period in which each responder replies with a beamforming-feedback response; and an acknowledgement period during which the initiator transmits respective acknowledgement frames to the one or more responders from which responses were received. Rules for restricted random access in various slots of the feedback period may be implemented, to address response contention between multiple qualifying responders.

  • Patent number: 10707934
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for multi-resolution training, for example, in millimeter wave (mmW) WLAN systems. In a Multi-Resolution Beam Refinement Protocol (MR-BRP), an access point (AP)/PBSS control point (PCP) and a station (STA) may perform multi-resolution beamforming training, for example, by changing a sub-beam resolution or by maintaining sub-beam resolution while changing a resolution of the beamforming training between levels or stages of training. Sub-beam resolution may be changed, for example, by assigning different angular spreads to or by downselecting a number of antenna elements while keeping inter-element spacing constant between levels of training. Resolution of beamforming training may be changed, for example, by downsampling sub-beams or by downsampling antenna elements while adjusting inter-element spacing. Beamforming training (e.g. refinement) levels may refine beams by changing a resolution of antenna weight vectors (AWVs).

  • Publication number: 20200204222
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for beamforming (BF) training are disclosed. In some examples, a receiver is configured to receive sector sweep (SSW) training frames from an initiator device that each indicate an antenna sector of the initiator device. A transmitter is configured to transmit sector sweep (SSW) training frames to the initiator device that indicate a best received antenna sector of the initiator device. The receiver receives a sector sweep feedback (SSW FB) frame from the initiator device, and the transmitter transmits transmit a sector sweep acknowledgement (SSW ACK) frame to the initiator device that indicates an antenna sector of the initiator device that is different from the antenna sector indicated by the SSW FB frame, if the SSW FB frame was best received by an antenna not corresponding to the best received antenna sector of the initiator device.

  • Publication number: 20200196241
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are disclosed for operating a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in a wake-up radio (WUR) state and receiving a (WUR) frame from an access point (AP). A WUR frame may include a multicast counter (MC) field. A determination may be made whether a received MC value in a received MC field is a same value as a stored MC value. Where a received MC value is the same value as a stored MC value, the WTRU may operate in the WUR state. Where a received MC value is not the same value as a stored MC value, the WTRU may operate in a primary connectivity radio (PCR) state.

  • Publication number: 20200178171
Abstract: Procedures and mechanisms for narrowband multi-channel transmission for wakeup radio (WUR) operation are disclosed. A station (STA) operating in WUR mode may have its a primary connectivity radio (PCR) turned off and its WUR turned and operating according to previously negotiated WUR operating parameters. The STA may monitor, for WUR beacons and frames over a first WUR channel, and determine that the first WUR channel does not support reliable transmission based on no beacons being received within a first duration. The STA may turn off the WUR, and turn on the PCR to send a first short WUR frame including a wakeup reason, and receive a second short WUR frame with a WUR channel assignment. The STA may turn off the PCR, turn on the WUR, and monitor for WUR signals on a second WUR channel according to the WUR channel assignment and the previously negotiated WUR operating parameters.

  • Publication number: 20200162135
Abstract: A single input single output (SISO) data transmission may solicit a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) rank adaptation information. A number of transmit chain for transmission may be determined, e.g., by an access point (AP). A physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) may be transmitted, e.g., to a station (STA). The PPDU may include data and training (TRN) sequences. The number of TRN sequences may be equal to the number of transmit chains. The PPDU may include information associated with the determined number of transmit chains for transmission. Feedback may be received, e.g., from the STA. The feedback may include information that identifies a transmit chain associated with the transmitted TRN sequences and/or a channel measurement associated with the identified transmit chain. A subsequent PPDU may be transmitted based on the channel measurement associated with the identified transmit chain from the received feedback.

Abstract: Devices, methods, and systems for scheduling of an enhanced sector level sweep (SLS). A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) monitors beacon frames transmitted from one or more access points associated with the WTRU. The WTRU receive the beacon frames over multiple transmission sectors during a time interval. The WTRU then compiles the transmission sectors information in a list and ranks the sectors in the list, based on the sectors' characteristics. Then, the WTRU transmits the list over one sector of the list to the one or more access points.

A station (STA) may receive a packet from a transmitting STA and determine whether it is properly received by performing at least one check of a plurality of checks. The STA may determine that reception of the packet was not properly received due to a reception failure based on the at least one check and may generate a negative acknowledgement signal (NACK) signal including an indication of the reception failure cause to enable the transmitting STA to remediate the reception failure cause. The least one check includes determining whether a frame check sequence (FCS) passes, whether a CSMA wireless medium remains busy immediately after an expected packet transmission time, whether there is a power spike during reception of the signal, or whether there are Short training field (STF) and Long Training Field (MT) correlations.

Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may be configured to perform wake up radio (WUR) for one or more WUR receivers. The WTRU may transmit a second WUR packet after the common preamble, The bandwidth associated with the second WUR packet and the bandwidth associated with the first WUR packet may be smaller than the bandwidth associated with the common preamble, which may avoid interference from other transmitters {e.g., 802.11 transmitters, 802.11 stations, and 802.11 radios). The bandwidth associated with the first WUR packet and the bandwidth associated with the second WUR packet may not be coextensive with one another.
