  • Patent number: 11402662
Abstract: A soft contact lens comprises a plurality of light sources coupled to a plurality of optical elements. The plurality of light sources and the plurality of optical elements are embedded in a soft contact lens material. Each of said plurality of optical elements generates an image focused in front of a peripheral retina of a wearer. In some embodiments, each of the images is focused at a distance in front of the peripheral retina at a location, and each of the images comprises a depth of focus and a spatial resolution. The depth of focus can be less than the distance, and the spatial resolution greater than a spatial resolution of the peripheral retina at the location.

  • Patent number: 8602964
Abstract: An electromechanical actuator (100) suitable, for example, in hearing aid applications is disclosed. Certain embodiments of the actuator comprise a hermetic titanium housing (1), a mechanical output structure (110) emulating the long process of incus (8), and means for efficiently generating movement in the audible frequency range. The electromechanical actuator (100) may be configured to be coupled to the inner ear fluids via a conventional stapes prosthesis. The implantable actuator (100), which may be considered to be operably equivalent to a loudspeaker of a conventional hearing aid, may bypass the outer and the middle ear in order to directly drive the inner ear fluids. As such, embodiments of the electromechanical actuator of the present invention may be used to remedy any source of conductive hearing loss.

  • Patent number: 8482164
Abstract: At least one embodiment of the invention relates to supplying ships in a harbor with external energy in order to prevent the formation of soot and CO2. For this purpose it is already known to supply ships with power from the wharfage. One problem in such a power supply provided from the wharf is that differences in the harbor's water level must be balanced for the power supply of a ship in the harbor. Furthermore, the operational readiness of such a power supply on land may be adversely affected, such as in the case of high water. At least one embodiment of the invention proposes a buoyant harbor power supply, e.g. the components of the harbor power supply are disposed on or in a buoyant device, particularly a barge.
