  • Patent number: 4815793
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system for automotive vehicles has a master brake cylinder (1) operable by a brake pedal, wheel brakes (VL, HR, VR, HL) being connected to said master brake cylinder via brake lines (11, 12), and a hydraulic power booster (22) supplied by a pressure medium source (42) and connected between the brake pedal and the master brake cylinder (1) so as to boost the actuating force. The booster has a booster piston (27) in a booster chamber (28) and the pressurization of said booster piston is controllable by the brake pedal via a control piston (30). For controlling the brake system by means of a brake slip control device the connection from the brake lines (11, 12) to the wheel brakes can be blocked by solenoid valves (13-16). The booster piston (27) is connected with a resetting piston which, for pushing the booster piston back into its rest position, is pressurizable via a resetting valve (46, 53) controllable by the brake slip control device.

  • Patent number: 4805966
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system includes a hydraulic power booster (11) and a master cylinder (12) connected downstream of the power booster (11). The pressure chamber (21) of the power booster (11) is pressurized by an auxiliary pressure which is dependent on the position of a pedal-actuated brake valve (19). A fast-fill cylinder (40) is can be pressurized by the dynamic pressure and with its aid the working chamber (16) of the master cylinder (12) can be supplied with additional pressure fluid in the initial phase of braking. The chamber (48) between the two piston steps (57, 58) of the fast-fill cylinder connects to the unpressurized supply reservoir (3) by way of a valve assembly (51) for synchronizing the movements of the master cylinder piston (43) and of the stepped piston (45) of the fast-fill cylinder (40). The valve assembly (51) is furnished with the wheel cylinder pressure as a control variable.

  • Patent number: 4790608
Abstract: In a skid-controlled brake system including a diagonal division of the brake circuits (I and II), the wheel brakes (31 to 34), through main brake lines (62, 63) and branch lines (47 to 50), are in communication with the master cylinder (2) of the brake pressure generator (1), with inlet valves (24, 25 and 29, 30, respectively), open in de-energized position, being provided in the branch lines. Moreover, in-flow lines (45, 46) provided with check valves (38, 39) are couupled to the main brake lines (62, 63), through which, in the event of a locking tendency of the vehicle wheels, pressure fluid is delivered by two hydropumps (21, 26) into the brake circuits (I, II) causing the pistons (6, 7) of the master cylinder (2) to be restored against the pedal force (F) and the central control valves (10, 11) located in pistons (6, 7) to be opened thereby enabling pressure fluid to flow off into the tank (20).

  • Patent number: 4736995
Abstract: A brake slip control apparatus fed with auxiliary energy for use in a vehicular hydraulic brake system, comprising a master-cylinder assembly (12) actuatable by the brake pedal, and with auxiliary energy being supplied into the working chamber (16) of the master cylinder. A resetting piston (49) is arranged axially slidably between stops on the secondary side of the master cylinder piston (23), which piston (49) causes the master cylinder piston (23) to assume a defined position in the event of application with auxiliary energy. To this end, the resetting piston (49) is slidably supported in an annular chamber (47) and, on brake actuation after having overcome a clearance (X), is entrained by the booster piston (57) in the actuating direction. Terminating into the annular chamber (49) is a throttle bore (46) through which pressure fluid out of the annular compartment (36) may enter into the annular chamber (47) in order to urge the resetting piston (49) back to its initial position.

  • Patent number: 4659152
Abstract: A vehicle hydraulic brake system with slip control, wherein a master cylinder (2) is pressurizable by a hydraulic poser booster (1). Valve means (23, 24, 29, 28, 32, 33, 34, 35) are inserted between the master cylinder (2) and the wheel brakes (25, 26, 30, 31) connected to the master cylinder (2), which valve means serve to remove pressure fluid from the wheel brakes (30, 31, 25, 26). Pressure fluid taken from the wheel brakes is replenished out of the pressure chamber (10) of the hydraulic power booster (1). A stroke limitation of the brake pedal (8) is effected during slip control. To simplify the design of the braking pressure generator (1, 2), the end surface of the master cylinder piston (5) close to the working chamber (16) is larger than the effective surface of the booster piston (4), and that a stepped piston is employed as master cylinder piston (5), an annular surface of said master cylinder piston (5) being adapted to be acted upon by the pressure prevailing in the working chamber (16).

  • Patent number: 4643488
Abstract: A hydraulic vehicle servo brake comprises a master cylinder (11) accommodating at least one stepped main-piston assembly (12). A booster piston (12') is provided which is acted upon by a controlled pressure with the controlled pressure being delivered by a brake valve (29) governed by the brake pedal. When the brake pedal (13) is not depressed, a valve contained in an annular chamber is opened and connects the annular chamber to the supply reservoir. In the event of slight advance movement of the main-piston assembly (12), the valve (20) will close. In this case, a wheel-slip brake control unit will shut off the annular chamber (19) hydraulically towards the outside. To accomplish a compact design, the booster piston (12') and the tapered main piston part (12") are united to form an integral piston (26) of constant diameter.

  • Patent number: 4564244
Abstract: A pressure control device to be inserted into a connection between a front wheel brake and a rear wheel brake which determines the rear brake hydraulic pressure in dependence upon front brake hydraulic pressure. The pressure control device provides a plurality of valve pistons hydraulically connected in parallel and displaceable by front axle hydraulic pressure in opposition to a control force. A predetermined change-over hydraulic pressure develops a braking pressure in the rear brake which is less than the front brake pressure. The valve pistons are provided by stepped pistons guided within stepped bores, each of which pistons provides smaller and larger effective pressure surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4444052
Abstract: Compensating brake fluid reservoirs with a brake fluid alarm device are required for master cylinders of hydraulic brake systems in automotive vehicles. A float chamber, which is disposed in a compensating reservoir and surrounds a float, is defined by a tubular body suspended from an upper end of the reservoir and a bottom element. After insertion of both parts into the reservoir the bottom element cooperates with the lower end of the tubular body such that the float chamber is closed at least to such an extent that the inflow and outflow of the fluid therefrom is inhibited in order to achieve a damping effect. This enables a quick immersion of both parts into the filled reservoir without brake fluid leaking from the reservoir.
