  • Patent number: 8906321
Abstract: A reagent kit comprising: a reagent container assembly with at least one reagent container, wherein the reagent container has at least one container body and at least one closure which can be mounted or provided on the container body. The closure comprises a closure base member and a lid which is mounted movably on the base member for movement at least between a closed lid position and another lid position, and an in-transit securing means mountable in a locking position on the reagent container and which is movable relative to the reagent container from the locking position into a release position. The in-transit securing means, when in the locking position, secures the lid in the closed lid position. By moving the in-transit securing means from the locking position into the release position, the lid is moved from the closed lid position into the other lid position.

Abstract: A diagnostic scanning apparatus includes a hollow rotor sized to receive a patient. First and second flanges are connected to and extend radially outward from the rotor in a spaced-apart relationship, each of the first and second flanges including, at least in part, a magnetically-permeable material. A radiation source is affixed to the first flange and/or the rotor. A first axial actuator generates a variable magnetic field, is fixedly disposed adjacent to the first flange and can magnetically pull the first flange in a first axial direction of the rotor. A second axial actuator generates a variable magnetic field, is fixedly disposed adjacent to the second flange and can magnetically pull the second flange in a second axial direction of the rotor that is opposite of the first axial direction. The first and second axial actuators are both at least substantially disposed between the first and second flanges.

  • Publication number: 20120264624
Abstract: A method for detecting analytes in a sample liquid is provided in which the sample liquid is subjected to a mixing treatment on a surface of a support having in particular immobilized reactants, wherein an in particular trough-like vessel with an essentially flat bottom as a support surface for the immobilized reactants is used as the vessel for the sample liquid. The sample liquid is moved relative to the immobilized reactants by an oscillating movement of the vessel during the mixing treatment in one direction, typically along a line or a curve. • Patent number: 8130900
Abstract: A rotor of a gantry of a computed tomography apparatus is produced at least in sections in a differential style from bar-shaped basic elements. Due to the differential style of the rotor, the rotation mass is reduced to a significant degree given a simultaneously maintained rigidity and stability of the rotor 1, such that high rotation speeds can be realized with a comparably small dimensioning of the rotor drive.

  • Patent number: 8085896
Abstract: A rotor for a gantry of a computed tomography apparatus, as well as a manufacturing method for such a rotor. The rotor according to the invention is produced at least in segments from a composite material with polymer matrix that is reinforced with fibers. The rotor thus has a high strength and rigidity, such that the deformation limits to achieve a sufficiently good image quality with simultaneously low structural volume and low weight are not exceeded, even at high rotation speeds.

  • Patent number: 8073098
Abstract: An air bearing has a rotor having a circularly curved radial rotor bearing surface along its circumferential direction. The air bearing also has a stator having at least one radial stator bearing surface partially enclosing the rotor in the circumferential direction. The radial stator bearing surface is curved according to a profile following the circumferential direction of the rotor and is fashioned to generate an air gap between it and the radial rotor bearing surface so that, upon operation, the rotor is borne, supported by an air current in the air gap. The profile shapes the air gap such that, at a starting temperature that deviates from an operating temperature, the air gap has a smaller thickness (measured in the radial direction) in a second region of the radial stator bearing surface in comparison to a first region of the radial stator bearing surface along the circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 7997797
Abstract: A computed tomography apparatus according to the invention ha a rotor that is produced at least in segments from a composite material with metal matrix reinforced with particles. Composite materials with a polymer matrix reinforced with particles have high specific strength properties and rigidity properties with simultaneously low material usage, such that high rotation speeds of the rotor can be achieved without negatively affecting the image quality in generated tomographical images.

  • Patent number: 7927013
Abstract: A rotor, and a gantry and a computed tomography apparatus with such a rotor, has recess to accommodate at least one component of an image data acquisition device, and the recess is dimensioned such that the component can be inserted therein in a radial direction proceeding away from a rotation center of the rotor and is positively connected with the rotor by an abutment structure provided on the component, as well as by spot connections. This positive fit thus acts in the direction of the centrifugal forces arising upon rotation of the rotor, such that an ejection of the component from the rotor is effectively prevented even given a failure of the spot connections (for example bolt connections) between the rotor 1 and the component.

  • Patent number: 7909915
Abstract: The invention concerns a process and a device for generating a current of humid air having a defined relative humidity especially for the mixing treatment of a liquid on a liquid carrier (42). The process comprises the following steps: generating a current of air in a tubing arrangement (8), generating hot water vapour in an evaporator (10), introducing the water vapour into the air current to generate flowing hot humid air, passing the hot humid air through a water separator (20) while lowering the temperature of the humid air, heating the humid air coming from the water separator (20) to a certain temperature to lower the relative humidity to a defined value in a collecting chamber (30), and discharging the humid air from the tubing arrangement (8) as a current of humid air.

  • Patent number: 7790108
Abstract: The invention relates to a reagent cartridge for receiving containers. These each contain particle-charged reagents and particle-free reagents. The container receiving the particle-charged reagent is received so as to be able to rotate. The reagent cartridge comprises interconnectable cartridge parts which form containers and which, in the interconnected state, ensure that the container receiving the particle-charged reagent is mounted so as to be able to rotate.

  • Publication number: 20100167906
Abstract: The process of making synthetic silica glass occurs in a combustion chamber of a muffle furnace. It includes producing a gas flow containing a fuel, an oxidizer, and a silicon compound that is converted by flame hydrolysis and/or by chemical oxidation to SiO2 particles, and depositing them on a target to form a roll-shaped silica glass body. The combustion chamber is provided with a gas inlet and a gas outlet arranged at opposite ends of the combustion chamber, which widens from the inlet to the outlet. The gas flow is produced by a central nozzle for the silicon compound, a first concentric ring-shaped nozzle for the oxidizer, and a second concentric ring-shaped nozzle for the fuel. The process is characterized by a ratio of areas of ring gaps of the ring-shaped nozzles of from 1:4 to 1:6.1. The apparatus for the process is also part of the invention.
