  • Publication number: 20080065179
Abstract: An enhanced method and device are provided to treat atrial fibrillation or inhibit or reduce restenosis following angioplasty or stent placement. A balloon-tipped catheter is disposed in the area treated or opened through balloon angioplasty immediately following angioplasty. The balloon, which can have a dual balloon structure, may be delivered through a guiding catheter and over a guidewire already in place. A fluid such as a perfluorocarbon flows into the balloon to freeze the tissue adjacent the balloon, this cooling being associated with reduction of restenosis. A similar catheter may be used to reduce atrial fibrillation by inserting and inflating the balloon such that an exterior surface of the balloon contacts at least a partial circumference of the portion of the pulmonary vein adjacent the left atrium. In another embodiment, blood perfusion is performed simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20080065180
Abstract: The present invention provides an enhanced method and device to inhibit or reduce the rate of restenosis following angioplasty or stent placement. The invention involves placing a balloon tipped catheter in the area treated or opened through balloon angioplasty immediately following angioplasty. The balloon, which can have a dual balloon structure, may be delivered through a guiding catheter and over a guidewire already in place from a balloon angioplasty. A fluid such as a perfluorocarbon may be flowed into the balloon to freeze the tissue adjacent the balloon, this cooling being associated with reduction of restenosis. The catheter may also be used to reduce atrial fibrillation by inserting and inflating the balloon such that an exterior surface of the balloon is in contact with at least a partial circumference of the portion of the pulmonary vein adjacent the left atrium.

  • Patent number: 6997691
Abstract: A tablet press machine (1) includes a fixed casing (2) which houses a compression assembly (3) comprising a power-driven rotor (4) that rotates about an axis (5), the rotor including a matrix disc (6) and another two discs (7, 8) on both sides of it, mounting two sets of reciprocating punches (9, 10) opposite and aligned with each other in pairs. The matrix disc (6) has a plurality of through matrixes (11) where the reciprocating punches (9, 10) forming each pair are mounted in such a way as to delimit between them an empty space (12) of variably size designed to contain a dosed quantity of powder to be compressed. Two sets of cams (13, 14) are associated with the compression assembly (3) and, as the rotor (4) rotates, impart on the punches (9, 10) a driving motion which moves them cyclically towards and away from each other in such a way as to compress the powder contained in the matrix (11) in the matrix disc (6).

  • Publication number: 20050095310
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotary tablet press with rotating die table and with stamp guide discs 4 that, coaxial to the dies, have stamp guides for the shafts of upper and lower stamps. The invention also relates to the elastic stamp sealing elements used with the tablet presses, that can be attached to form a seal between the pressing area on the die table and the stamp guides. In order to allow the use of upper and lower stamps with rotary tablet presses other than those fitted with special attachment apparatus for bellows, and to re-use existing upper and lower stamps, wherein at the same time the stamp guides are protected from the incursion of press dust and the pressing area is protected from contamination by lubricating oil, the base section of the stamp sealing element has an undercut via which it can be releasably attached to a holding collar of a holding ring disposed concentrically about the stamp guide.

  • Publication number: 20050084143
Abstract: A method to conduct fingerprint verification provides a sector distribution based on the position and angle of every minutiae vector, wherein the number of further minutiae vectors of the template in any sector of the sector distribution is determined and a feature vector is generated for every minutiae vector of both templates. The two feature arrays are matched by calculating the scalar product for every combination of said vectors generating a matrix. Mated pairs of minutiae from the first second template are found by searching the maximum element in every column of the matrix finally issuing a value representing identification information of the fingerprint. Additionally a false finger identification method and a fingerprint verification system are disclosed.
