  • Publication number: 20130050996
Abstract: An emergency lighting assembly is provided having a housing with one or more adjustable lamp assemblies for aiming the light at selected areas. The lamp assembly is mounted in the housing by a ball and socket arrangement. The lamp assembly has a substantially spherical shape with a front section made of a heat conducting material and a rear section made of a plastic material. The front section has an opening on a front side having a lens and a base spaced from the front side supporting the light source. The light source in one embodiment is an LED which is coupled to the front section to conduct heat from the LED away from the LED and the housing. The rear section has an opening in the rear side that receives a fixed stop member to limit pivoting movement of the lamp assembly with respect to the housing. The rear section also includes a projection oriented to contact the stop member to limit rotation of the lamp assembly with respect to the housing.

  • Patent number: 8092936
Abstract: There is disclosed a core for an electrochemical cell that comprises an anode sheet, a cathode sheet, and a separator sheet disposed between the anode sheet and cathode sheet. The anode sheet, cathode sheet, and separator sheet are wound to form a flattened coil structure. The flattened coil structure has opposed flattened sides and opposed arcuate sides. The anode and cathode sheets terminate at the same or different arcuate sides. Further, the separator sheet may terminate at one of the arcuate sides.

  • Patent number: 5235894
Abstract: A device for firing projectiles (9) through an electrically heated plasma including a combustion chamber (12) which is provided on the breech side and the muzzle side with an electrode each, between which an arc generating plasma burns. A cartridge (18), which contains a material that decomposes into a low-molecular-weight gas under the effect of the arc, can be introduced into the combustion chamber (12). A current conductor, which connects a breech-side electrode (10) to the muzzle-side electrode (7) extending annularly around the muzzle-side end of the cartridge (18), is arranged in the longitudinal axis of the cartridge (18). The current conductor (20) consists of a plurality of strands (21) which extend radially to the outside from the longitudinal axis toward the annular electrode (7) at least at the muzzle-size end of the cartridge (18).

  • Patent number: 4498896
Abstract: A heatable centrifuge is formed of a rotor rotatable about a central axis. The rotor includes a dish shaped portion concentric to the central axis and a jacket portion extending upwardly from the outer peripheral edge of the dish shaped portion and disposed in parallel with the central axis. Preferably, the dish shaped portion is formed of an electrically insulating and heat insulating ceramic material and the jacket portion is formed of a high strength electrically conductive material. Sample containers are symmetrically arranged with the rotor supported with an insert within the jacket portion. Conductive heating members, such as electro-magnets, are arranged about the outer surface of the jacket portion for transmitting heat through the jacket portion to the material being centrifuged.

  • Patent number: 4063721
Abstract: A method for the separation of segregations from material mixtures is dissed. The method is particularly suited for the sedimentation of high-melting metal alloys and their impurities. In the method, material mixtures are introduced into the heatable rotor of a centrifuge disposed in a cooled vacuum. The rotor is subjected stepwise to the influence of changing gravitational accelerations as well as to a heat shock treatment varying in temperature level and/or duration. Equipment for execution of the method is also disclosed. The rotor of the centrifuge consists of several layers and includes a basic part whose outer surface is braced by a compound material bandage. The inner surface of the rotor is provided with a heat-deflecting, protective coating. A non-rotating cooling means and a central heat source are accommodated inside the rotor.
