  • Patent number: 6481648
Abstract: A laboratory microchip includes a carrier with a micro spray tip projecting vertically out of a plane of the carrier. The carrier and spray tip are designed as a monolithic or single unit. The spray tip includes a passage channel which conveys the substances to be sprayed from a channel to a spray tip aperture. The channel is a part of a channel structure which is enclosed to the outside by a cover plate. The spray tip includes, on the sides of the spray aperture, an area which tapers conically inwards. Connected to this tapered area is a constant cross-section drill hole forming an annular internal step formation at the transition between the two areas. The outer diameter of the conically tapering tip is locally reduced in proximity to the aperture to provide a finer tip to the spray tip. The finer tip increases the electrical fields occurring at the tip, to further increase the forces which act on the substances and for dispersion spraying.

  • Publication number: 20020169577
Abstract: The arrangement is to allow timely rollover recognition in the event of tipping over an embankment. For this purpose, the arrangement determines a predictive value of the yaw rate of the vehicle after a fictitious impact of the wheels on one longitudinal side of the vehicle against the ground from a yaw rate prevailing prior to the fictitious impact, the momentum of the vehicle in the direction of its vertical axis, and the angular momentum of the center of gravity of the vehicle prior to the fictitious impact. In addition, using the currently measured angle of inclination of the vehicle, it determines a critical yaw rate of the vehicle about its longitudinal axis instantaneously measured by the arrangement, which would be required to cause the vehicle to roll over. A conclusion is drawn about an imminent rollover if the predictive value of the yaw rate exceeds the critical yaw rate.

  • Publication number: 20020164418
Abstract: A method for creating a long superconducting wire and tape materials that can be loaded with high current densities using MgB2. The method is based on the powder-in-the-tube technology. In this process, there is a composite consisting of a cover tube made of material with normal conductivity, and a powder of a superconducting compound or a preliminary product. This powder compound contained in this cover tube, are processed by reshaping and thermal treatment steps to the superconducting wire or tape material. According to the invention, a composite is supplied to the processing process that contains a powdery superconducting MgB2 compound or a powdery preliminary product for a superconducting MgB2 compound. The powdery preliminary product, has been only partially reacted to an MgB compound, or is a powder mixture consisting of the individual components of the desired MgB2 compound. This product is filled into the cover tube.

  • Patent number: 6474284
Abstract: An air routing system, especially an air intake system of an internal combustion engine, which makes optimal use of available installation space by integrating a bypass channel (25) into an air intake module (10). The volume of the bypass channel also provides an acoustic shield for the collector chamber or plenum (22). The free area (13) behind the mounting flange (11) that is required for screwing in mounting bolts in order to mount the air intake module (10) is used by an air intake hood (14) which can be installed on the filter housing (15) after the air intake module has been mounted. This assures that there is a greater volume available in the filter housing (15), thereby reducing the noise at the inlet opening of the air intake module.

  • Patent number: 6475546
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing granulates which contain enzymes and which are suited for feeding animals. The granulates are produced by mixing at least one enzyme with a supporting material and by extruding this mixture. The inventive method is characterized in that the supporting material is firstly plasticized in a screw mixer which is equipped with at least one horizontally arranged screw. Afterwards, the enzyme is introduced into the screw mixer and is processed with the plasticized supporting material to produce a homogeneous material which is then extruded.

  • Patent number: 6477147
Abstract: A method and arrangement for transmitting a data packet in the Ethernet from a first arrangement to at least a second arrangement. When a data packet is transmitted in the Ethernet, the data packet is assigned a priority class (201). In addition, the data packet is labeled (202) in accordance with the priority class and transmitted (203). As a result, it becomes possible also to transmit in the Ethernet data packets of a communications connection with real-time requirements, it being possible to ensure specific time requirements in the statistical sense.

  • Patent number: 6472998
Abstract: An improved receiver (5) of a remote control system, in particular for closing systems of a motor vehicle, and a method for operating such a remote control system are proposed. Modern motor vehicle closing systems are equipped with remote control systems which, in addition to the central locking of the doors, also perform so-called comfort functions such as the closing of the windows or of the sunroof. For safety reasons, such a comfort function must be terminated as soon as a signal fails to be received. If the remote control system is activated at the limit of its range, the response threshold of the receiver (5) may be undershot as a result of the transmitter (1) moving. This leads to undesired breaking off of the comfort function, or to jerky operation of the comfort function. According to the invention, it is therefore proposed to implement the response threshold of the receiver so that it is capable of being switched over.

  • Publication number: 20020155794
Abstract: A method is disclosed for precision control of pole tip recession of magnetic recording heads. This is achieved by first constructing the head so that the thermal expansion coefficient of the recording head is different from the thermal expansion coefficient of the overcoat. Then the recording head is heated during the lapping process of the slider and recording head. The average and distribution of the recession between the overcoat and the recording head pole tips are improved.

  • Publication number: 20020152817
Abstract: A disk-shaped silicon sensor element for a pressure sensor is described. The sensor element has a disk upper side, a disk underside, stress measuring elements that convert mechanical stresses into signals, and circuits disposed on the disk upper side. The disk underside serves during a pressure measurement for receiving a force that acts as a bending pressure for bending the disk-shaped silicon sensor element. The sensor element is formed with essentially the same thickness over its entire extent.

  • Publication number: 20020152981
Abstract: Two low-voltage energy storage devices (B1 and B2) are provided in an arrangement that ensures, on the one hand, a high start power in the vehicle electrical system, resulting from being connected to a higher-level voltage, for a starter generator (SG) that is coupled to an internal combustion engine. The arrangement additionally ensures, on the other hand, full compatibility with low-voltage vehicle electrical system consumers (VB). The arrangement allows the two low-voltage energy storage devices (B1 and B2), either separately or when connected in parallel, to supply the vehicle electrical system consumers (VB) with a low voltage. In addition, the arrangement allows the two low-voltage energy storage devices (B1 and B2), when connected in series, to provide the high start power with increased voltage and correspondingly reduced current intensity at least for a cold start of the starter generator (SG).
