  • Patent number: 4741965
Abstract: A soft substance gasket material preferably made of a metal reinforced fiber mat is impregnated with a silicone impregnating agent comprising a mixture of a polysiloxane having reactive hydrogen groups such as a polyhydrogen siloxane, an addition cross-linking polysiloxane such as a methyl vinyl siloxane, and cross-linking catalysts, preferably in the form of only one organic metal compound. In spite of having small quantities of addition cross-linking polysiloxane and cross-linking catalysts, the impregnated seals are not tacky after cross-linking, they are easy and inexpensive to manufacture, and they evidence improved functional characteristics such as improved resistance to hot media, temperature and aging when compared with seals impregnated with only one type of polysiloxane.

  • Patent number: 4727757
Abstract: A torque sensor has a magnetic foil which is wound and attached to a rotating shaft in strip form at an angle to the shaft axis of rotation, the magnetic strip being mechanically stressed dependent upon the torque acting on the shaft, and generating voltages in two secondary windings surrounding the magnetic strips. The voltages will be different due to different forces acting on the two strips, this being a measure of the torque acting on the shaft. The strips are formed from stamped segments cut obliquely from an amorphous tape which is cast with a profiled cross-machine cross section having regions of varying thickness. Such a tape can be manufactured using a nozzle having a correspondingly shaped orifice opening through which molten amorphous alloy is discharged onto a moving cooling surface.

  • Patent number: 4684444
Abstract: A sorter for paper pulp suspension including a rotationally symmetrical wire cage and a rotor supporting a plurality of vanes for rotating about the interior of the cage for moving suspension through the wire cage, the vanes being non-uniformly spaced. An annular pulp chamber surrounds the screen for collecting the pulp. A suspension outlet at the bottom of the pulp chamber receives the pulp from the pulp chamber. The pulp chamber extends axially beyond the lower end of the wire cage. An annular damping chamber surrounds the lower end of the pulp chamber and flow from the pulp chamber to the pulp outlet is past the damping chamber. The damping chamber develops a pool of the suspension in it. A pressurized gas cushion above the pool of suspension in the damping chamber controls the level thereof and damps the motion of the pulp in the pulp chamber.

  • Patent number: 4681800
Abstract: An impregnated, soft, flat sealing gasket and a method of manufacturing same which includes the steps of impregnating a fiber mat with a liquid, cross-linkable silicone impregnating agent which includes a cross-linking agent which forms radicals under the influence of heat; heating the silicone-impregnated fiber mat to cause at least partial cross-linking of the silicone impregnating agent; and irradiating the impregnated fiber mat with high energy radiation to cause cross-linking of the silicone impregnating agent present therein, whereby the silicone impregnating agent present in surface regions of the flat sealing gasket is cross-linked to a greater degree than obtainable by thermal treatment alone.

  • Patent number: 4110091
Abstract: In the dispensing of gasoline into a tank used for the storage or transportation of gasoline wherein the gasoline displaces a gaseous mixture of air and gasoline, and said mixture is treated to a recovery step to separate said gasoline from said mixture, there is provided an improvement in the recovery step which comprises cooling said mixture to condense out the gasoline and water from the air thereby purifying the air, and then separating the water from the gasoline.

  • Patent number: 3967938

One or two main heat exchangers can be employed depending on whether the system is operated continuously or not. A short regeneration time is made possible by the use of steam which expands the heat exchange tubes sufficiently to remove ice cleanly. An absorber using activated carbon is optionally employed in addition to the removal of the gasoline by cooling.
