  • Publication number: 20050076645
Abstract: In a method for operating a power plant by means of a CO2 process, isentropic compression first takes place, subsequently an isobaric heat supply, then isentropic expansion, and finally isobaric heat discharge. The CO2 process broken down here takes place with internal combustion, a fuel (21) and the oxygen (18) necessary for oxidization being supplied. After the charging of the CO2 circuit (23) has been carried out, the excess CO2 formed from combustion is discharged continuously, in that this gas is led through a cooler (14), in which said gas is condensed. In order to dispose of this condensed CO2 (15), there are available here, for example, the possibilities of storing this CO2 on the ocean floor or of introducing the condensed CO2 into a worked-out deposit of natural gas.

  • Publication number: 20040244634
Abstract: An improved cableway system for providing a track over which a vehicle traverses is disclosed. The improved system includes a catenary cable system and a pair of track cable systems. The track cable systems are hung from the catenary cable system and support tracks over which a vehicle traverses. A plurality of hangers is employed to suspend the track cable systems from the catenary cable system. A plurality of pylons support the catenary and track cable systems. A pylon includes a base pylon, a lower saddle, and an upper saddle. The lower saddle is pivotally mounted to the base pylon and supports the track cable systems. Preferred embodiments of the lower saddle include apparatuses that dampen the application of loads to the pylon by the vehicle traversing the system. The upper saddle is supported by the base pylon and supports the catenary cable system while providing for deflection of the catenary cable system in response to forces applied to the cableway system.

  • Publication number: 20040206064
Abstract: A gas turbine system comprises a compressor that takes in suction air on the inlet side and compresses it to compressor end air that is available on the outlet side, a combustor in which a fuel is burned by using the compressor end air while resulting in the formation of hot gas, as well as a turbine in which the hot gas is expanded while providing work output. In a method for cooling this gas turbine system, compressed air is removed from the compressor, is fed as cooling air for cooling inside an internal cooling channel through thermally loaded components of the combustor and/or the turbine, is then compressed and added to the compressor end air. An improved cooling without disadvantage for the efficiency of the system is achieved in that, in the manner of a targeted leakage, a small part of the cooling air is fed for film cooling into the turbine stream through drilled film cooling openings provided on the components.

  • Patent number: 6330515
Abstract: In a method for initiating protective measures on rapidly running rotary machines upon the occurrence of impermissible vibrations, or other disturbances which cause vibrations, the vibrations are measured as measured variables essentially at the bearings of the rotors or derived values. In a first relatively long time interval (t1) a number of measured data of this measured variable are recorded and conditioned using an equalizing function. In a second, relatively short time interval (t2) the measured data of the same measured variable which are current in this time interval are recorded. Thereafter, these current measured data are compared with the conditioned measured data of the relatively long time interval (t1) and, depending on the result of the comparison, a monitoring signal corresponding the result, or an emergency shutdown signal is triggered.

Abstract: In a method of operating a power station plant with a closed or virtually closed CO2 process, a fuel quantity (21) and oxygen (18) required in this regard for the oxidation are introduced into the cycle for the internal combustion. A recuperator (8) acts on the downstream side of a turbine (2) belonging to the power station plant, at least one heat sink (24) operating downstream of this recuperator before the cycle medium (6) flows back into a compressor (1) which likewise belongs to the power station plant. • Patent number: 6224328
Abstract: Turbomachine, in particular a compressor of a gas turbine, having rotor blades (11) and guide vanes (12), in which individual or all guide vanes (12) are configured as cooled vanes. The cooled vanes (12) have air guidance ducts (13) which emerge into outlet openings (14) in the region of the vane tips (15). Cooling air (K) is ejected through the outlet openings (14) and impinges at high velocity onto a rotor shaft (18). The cooling effect which can be achieved by this means is optimal and, in addition, leads to a raising of the compressor efficiency and the surge line.
