  • Patent number: 9125413
Abstract: The present invention relates to nematicides, which are compositions that kill nematodes when placed in physical contact with nematodes. Nematodes do not decompose organic matter, but, instead, are parasitic and free-living organisms that feed on living material. M. incognita is a root knot nematode that has the ability to cause infection in more than 2,000 species of plants. Specifically, the present invention relates to CED-4 peptides that effectively kill nematodes. These CED-4 peptides are segments of the CED-4 protein. This invention is directed to a nematicide composition comprising an effective amount of a CED-4 peptide consisting of no more than 50 amino acids. In one aspect of the invention, the nematicide composition consists of no more than 30 amino acids. In another aspect of the invention, the nematicide consists of no more than 20 amino acids.

  • Publication number: 20150032301
Abstract: A method of storing energy produced by a mobile vehicle is disclosed. The method may include receiving information on a vehicle trip profile. An electrical mode of a traction motor configured for propelling the vehicle may be changed from a motor mode where the traction motor receives electrical power to a generator mode where the traction motor produces electrical power when the trip profile indicates a charging opportunity. The method may further include directing energy generated by the traction motor in generator mode to a first tier of one or more energy storage devices with first rate-of-energy-absorption capabilities. A second tier of one or more energy storage devices with second rate-of-energy-absorption capabilities slower than the first rate-of-energy-absorption capabilities may then be charged with energy from the first tier energy storage devices. The charging of the second tier energy storage devices may continue when the traction motor is no longer producing electrical power.

  • Publication number: 20150026462
Abstract: A method and system for access-controlled decryption in big data stores is provided. In an implementation, a system provides a method for encryption that stores meta-information about sensitive data elements being encrypted in a big data store, such as a Hadoop system, in which the bulk of the data may remain unencrypted. In an implementation, the system reads the stored meta-information at decryption time to determine where the encrypted data is within a large and unencrypted file system, and to determine whether or not an individual user has access rights to decrypt a given element of sensitive data. The system allows fine-grain control over access rights to sensitive data during decryption.

  • Patent number: 7990994
Abstract: Storage gateway provisioning, configuration, and management functions provide mechanisms to specify and manage parameters and operations associated with storage gateways. The parameters may include any combination of VLAN topology, zoning behavior, LUN masking, bandwidth, and priority. The parameters may also include path information describing initiator to target associations, enabling load-balancing aggregations and multipathing redundancy. Parameters may be specified at relatively low-levels, describing specific HW elements, or may be specified at relatively high-levels, describing desired bandwidth and redundancy requirements, with SW determining low-level HW assignments. Configuration and management functions enable dynamic modification of storage gateway parameters (such as bandwidth between selected initiator and target pairs). Management functions also enable dynamic switchover from a primary path to a secondary path with respect to a storage device.

  • Publication number: 20060047850
Abstract: Systems and methods in accordance with various disclosed embodiments are provided for multi-chassis, multi-pathing solutions in storage area networks. A physical target connected to a first storage switch can be virtualized as a member of a virtual logical unit at a second storage switch to which the physical target is not connected. An inter-chassis link can be provided between the storage switches. If the first storage switch becomes inaccessible, the physical target can be accessed via the second storage switch. A virtual logical unit can also be provisioned at the first switch with a member corresponding to the same physical target. The virtual logical units provisioned at each storage switch can be assigned the same identifier to create a clustered virtual logical unit apparent to host devices. Multiple paths to the same logical unit are thus provided to host devices via either switch.
