  • Publication number: 20140189731
Abstract: Internet streaming from broadcast radio or television stations is described wherein triggers for dynamic content originated from a system having a TCP Channel to a TCP Distribution Service are received by an encoder system also having a TCP Channel, and cause the encoder system to generate command messages, and optionally to synchronize those command messages with any delays associated with the triggering events. Command messages are delivered through a streaming media distribution system to client media players which obtain or present the dynamic content, in association with any desired configuration changes to the appearance of the media player or the method or manner in which the dynamic content is presented.

  • Publication number: 20140056433
Abstract: A smart phone application is configured to connect to the internal microphone to continuously monitor ambient audio picked up by the microphone by keeping the microphone always on in order to detect the presence of music. When a song is detected by audio analysis an acoustic fingerprint is created and compared against a song database of acoustic fingerprints. When the artist and title of a song is obtained by the smart phone application, the application stores that information in a listing.

  • Publication number: 20130318114
Abstract: A radio receiver system that determines the artist and title of songs played by a radio station by comparing an acoustic fingerprint of a song with a database of acoustic fingerprints, and retrieving the artist and title of the song if a match is found, said radio receiver system having available an audio analysis system, a fingerprinting system and a database system comprising a database of song fingerprints, said database associating acoustic fingerprints with the artist and title of songs.

  • Patent number: 7490053
Abstract: A radio station transmits its broadcast audio content, including audible advertisements, to listeners over the Internet via an Internet Hosting Service that provides listener access to radio station content. A computing system at the radio station digitizes the audio, and supplies marking information that identifies the beginning and duration of commercials. The digital marking information is supplied with the radio station's audio to the Internet Hosting Service. The Internet Hosting Service maintains a repository of replacement audio commercials along with information about the commercials including duration. Upon receiving the digital marker indicating the presence of a commercial, the Internet Hosting Service selects a replacement commercial of comparable duration from its repository.

  • Patent number: 7327720
Abstract: Telephone central office-switching system integrated interface devices such as those for DSL, Voice over IP, cable-TV, fixed wireless, and Internet capable wireless cellular are further integrated into integrated interface device systems. Such systems share common facilities including a router function, messaging function, and a common voice communications channel. The messaging function is arranged to provide call setup and associated messages which enable a calling device which calls an Integrated Device to establish an Internet communication simply by dialing the telephone number of the Integrated Device. Integrated Devices have both an Internet connection and a telephone number; the Internet connection has an associated IP address. Call setup messages include telephone numbers and IP addresses. The integrated router function is enabled to edge route Internet data traffic within the system and to and from other such systems, without the data traversing further into the Internet.

  • Patent number: 6928070
Abstract: A plurality of Integrated Devices are provided with an Internet connection and a telephone number. The telephone number has associated telephone connectivity via a telephone line, such that the Integrated Devices can be connected to by dialing the associated telephone number via telephones on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The Internet connection has an associated Internet protocol (IP) address which is dynamically assigned when one device calls the telephone number of a called device via the PSTN. The dynamically assigned IP address for a first one of the calling or called device is provided to the other device, which initiates an Internet connection between them by sending an Internet message to the dynamically assigned IP address of the first device. Local and intermediate proxy servers perform dynamic IP address management, providing privacy and security for user IP addresses and data transmissions.

  • Patent number: 6704305
Abstract: Integrated Devices enable the integration of the Internet with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). A device can place a telephone call to an Integrated Device via dialing on the PSTN and have the call consummated over the Internet via a mechanism of messaging between the associated devices and systems.

  • Patent number: 6700884
Abstract: A plurality of Integrated Devices are provided with an Internet connection and a telephone number. The Internet connection has an associated Internet protocol (IP) address permanently or dynamically assigned. It is initiated when one device calls the telephone number of a called device via telephones on a public service telephone network (PSTN). The telephone number has associated telephone connectivity via a telephone line, such that the Integrated Devices can be connected to by dialing the associated telephone number via telephones on the PSTN. An Internet connection is associated with the calling device; the called device is an Integrated Device. An IP address for a first one of the calling or called devices is obtained and provided to the other device, which initiates an Internet connection therewith by sending an Internet message to the IP address thereof.

  • Patent number: 6697357
Abstract: A call management messaging system enables the integration of the Internet with the Public Switched Telephone Network PSTN in a manner such that systems, services, and devices on either can communicate with systems, services, and devices on the other. The full benefit and unique characteristics of either network are thereby made available to these communications. Call management messages include call setup requests, call acceptance, call rejection for busy, call forwarding, and similar messages necessary for creating and disconnecting voice and multimedia communications across the PSTN or the Internet. Devices on both the Internet and the PSTN have messaging addresses, and are associated with the call management messaging system. A device creates an Internet communication with another device by dialing its telephone number.

  • Patent number: 6411800
Abstract: An Enhanced Radio Data System for commercial radio broadcasters comprises a subcarrier modulated for transmitting data impressed on the broadcaster's main carrier frequency. The subcarrier data protocol constitutes an enhancement over existing protocols constructed for this purpose by providing the capability for broadcasters to identify themselves both by their program format as well as by the announcements they carry, and by providing the capability for broadcasters to convey more detailed information in a process with greater inherent intelligence. Such intelligence enables: data typing without separately transmitting the definition of the data types; data compression specific to each type of data; and data formatting and presentation based on the specific characteristics of the data types without the need to separately transmit data formatting and presentation instructions.
