  • Publication number: 20050061466
Abstract: This invention relates to a brake caliper adapted for use in a vehicle disc brake assembly and method and apparatus for producing the same. The method for producing the brake caliper comprises the steps of: (a) providing a mold member having at least two mold sections; (b) providing a core member having at least a first male extension which is adapted to form an integrally cast locating recess in the brake caliper which is used as a locating surface for subsequent machining of the brake caliper; (c) disposing the core member in the mold member in a predetermined position; (d) supplying a suitable material to the mold member so as to form a brake caliper within the mold; (e) removing the brake caliper from the mold, wherein the brake caliper includes an integrally cast locating recess formed therein by the first male extension of the core member; and (f) machining the brake caliper using at least the integrally cast locating recess formed therein as a locating surface.

  • Publication number: 20050055848
Abstract: An expandable shoe includes an outer shell and an adjustable inner assembly within the outer shell. The inner assembly includes a first sole portion, a second sole portion, and a screw drive. The screw drive has a screw passing through a screw insert mounted to one of the first and second sole portions and a screw-receiving portion attached to the other of the first and second sole portions, so that turning the screw causes the sole portions to move relative to one another, thereby adjusting a dimension of the shoe. The shoe includes a manually operable control to turn the screw without the need for tools. The control is operable between a first position in which the control resists movement around an axis defined by the screw and a second position in which the control can be used to turn the screw to adjust a dimension of the footwear.

  • Publication number: 20050050772
Abstract: An improved expandable shoe and inner assembly are disclosed. The expandable shoe includes an outer shell and an adjustable inner assembly is disposed within the outer shell. The inner assembly has a first board portion and a second board portion in overlapping engagement with each other and a control to adjust the position of the first board portion relative to the second board portion. A lighted visualization window provides a visualization window to the inner assembly. The inner assembly may include size markings through the visualization window so that a size of the adjusted shoe may be determined as shoe size is adjusted.

  • Patent number: 6817116
Abstract: An expandable shoe includes an outer shell and an adjustable inner assembly disposed within the outer shell. The inner assembly has a control to adjust a dimension of the inner assembly and thereby a corresponding dimension of the shoe. A visualization window provides a view port to the inner assembly so that size markings on the inner assembly may be visible through the view port. The inner assembly includes first and second board portions, each shaped for relative movement with respect to the other, and a manually urgable member. When the urgable member is released from an engagement member fixed to one of the first and second board portions, the first and second board portions may be moved to adjust the shoe dimension and when the urgable member is in engagement with the fixed engagement member the first and second board portions resist movement relative to one another.

  • Publication number: 20020178617
Abstract: An expandable shoe includes a front outer assembly and a rear outer assembly. A flexible, expandable segment is attached to the front and rear outer assemblies to define a shoe outer shell. The flexible segment extends at least partially along each side of the outer shell and transversely across the bottom of the outer shell. Within the outer shell an adjustable inner assembly is disposed and attached to the front and rear outer assembly. The inner assembly has a control to adjust a dimension of the inner assembly and thereby a corresponding dimension of the shoe. In one embodiment, a visualization window provides a view port to the inner assembly. The inner assembly may include size markings visible through the view port so that a size of the adjusted shoe may be determined as shoe size is adjusted. Under another embodiment, the inner assembly includes a first sole portion, a second sole portion, and a screw drive.

  • Patent number: 6416028
Abstract: A method and device for hanging elevator pads. An elevator pad clamp is disclosed that includes a back plate having an attachment end for holding the back plate in relation to an elevator wall and having two wing segments extending away from a surface of the back plate. A clamp plate is hinged to the wing segments at a clamp axis, and a spring is hinged to the wing segments and positioned to bias the clamp plate in a first state. A lever portion is hinged to the wing segments at a lever axis. The lever portion has an urging member shaped to urge against a first surface of the clamp plate as the lever portion is rotated about the lever axis to cause the clamp plate to rotate about the clamp axis. The clamping device has two states. In an open state the clamp plate and the back plate define an open set of elevator-pad receiving jaws. The device may remain in the open state without depressing the lever. In a closed state, the jaws are closed and locked.

  • Patent number: 5335755
Abstract: A structural support system for vehicle storage has two independent means to rotate a two-deck inclinable structure about a pivot on a stationary structure. The inclinable structure does not change shape when it is tilted and contains a compression member which connects the upper and lower decks. Four tension members are provided to connect the bottom of the compression member with the four corners of the upper deck. A force sensor is used to calibrate the forces in the tension rods to constrain the compression member from deflecting when the decks are loaded, enabling a significant increase in the safe dynamic load carrying capability of the inclinable structure. The system includes an automatic vehicle restraining mechanism to prevent movement of the vehicle when inclined away from horizontal. A secondary cable system operates in parallel with the primary rotation means to counteract the empty weight of the inclinable structure.

  • Patent number: 5182505
Abstract: A retrofit apparatus for providing a signal indicative of the position of an aircraft control surface comprises a rotary coupling flexibly coupled to the control surface, an extensible coupling driven by the rotary coupling, a quadric-chain linkage coupled to the extensible coupling for converting a linear output into a substantially translatory displacement, a linkage for converting the translatory displacement into a substantially angular motion, and a transducer coupled to the linkage for converting the angular motion into an electrical output indicative of the position of the aircraft control surface. The invention is a simple modification to an existing quadric-chain linkage driving a mechanical indicator, enabling an electrical transducer to be retrofitted in the crowded control stand of an aircraft.
